All the info that I may have forgotten!
It was great to see all of you the last two days. I look forward to actually be able to greet you and chat awhile!
This will be an attempt to add to all the info that I may have forgotten to give you at your particular meeting time.
First of all, here are the two websites that have the great lunch ideas.
And I completely forgot to give one group the Remind 101 information. This is the texting app that we have that will alert you in case of a weather emergency or other major event going on.
You will need to text to the following number:
931-451-0239
In the body of the text where you would normally write a message/text, type the following combination of signs/letter/numbers:
(for M/W only) @f816a
(for T/TH only) @b2068
Don't type: (for M/W only) - that was just directed at specific groups!
If you have trouble, e-mail Betsy :)

Online Payments
We had some questions today at teacher inservice about the online payments that you can make through our FCC website.
There was some confusion because the follow-up e-mail lists the payment as a "donation". Let me assure you that it is a payment and not a donation!
This payment system is intended for churches for tithes and offerings. The church was good enough to add us to this payment system to make it more convenient for parents to pay tuition. All monies paid through this system are payments, however, and not simply donations. We receive a confirmation e-mail when you have made your payment, and we apply it to your account.
Just be sure and select SHINING LIGHT as your payment option!
We hope that you will try this option as we continue to learn what all our new church database can do. And remember, if you have any questions at all about payments, please e-mail Betsy at betsy@franklinchristianchurch.com.

Next Week
Just a reminder that we need you to bring the Student Information sheet to the Meet the Teacher/Parent Meeting next week. This form contains a medical release, a photo release as well as who is allowed to pick your child up from school.
You can access the form from the church website: www.franklinchristianchurch.com. It is found on the Shining Light page under "Students currently registered for fall".
On the form please make sure that you list any food allergies that your child may have. We try to be very conscious of this at Shining Light, and our teachers need to be aware as soon as possible.
***If you have two children at SL, you only need to come to the meeting for the oldest child. You may leave the other children in their respective classrooms, however, no matter which meeting you opt to attend.
***And finally, I will be on a staff retreat Thursday - Saturday and will be away from my computer. If you have a question about next week, please feel free to e-mail Lynne or Betsy.

Getting ready for school
Welcome to our new families who have signed up in recent weeks! We look forward to getting to know you and your child very soon.
Some reminders:
1. First month tuition is due August 15th. The easiest way is to pay online at www.franklinchristianchurch.com. Click on the "Online Giving" tab.
2. Go to the actual blog if you need to check dates and times for Meet the Teacher/Parent Meeting. The plan is for your child to spend about an hour with his/her teachers while you meet with me in the music room - www.shininglightcpc.blogspot.com.
3. Tote bags for our new families (or new siblings) will be given out on Meet the Teacher morning.
4. The Parent Meeting is very important for those families who are new. There is a lot of information that will be covered to make your start of the school year easier! This year we divided it up so that we can gear the information to specific age groups. If you have two children at Shining Light, please feel free to just come to the second time slot (Preschool and Pre-K).
5. If you have tried calling our new number, you may or may not have gotten through...after the rain last Thursday, our line has gone crazy. It sometimes sounds like a fax machine is answering. Just hang up and call right back - that seems to do the trick. We have called Comcast three times, and they have assured us that they are working on it...

Reminders
Reminders:
- Meet the Teacher/Parent Meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 28 for Mon/Wed children; Thursday, Aug. 29 for Tues/Thurs children.
- Walkers - Toddler 2 will meet at 9:30 AM and Preschool - Pre-K will meet at 11:00 AM. If you have children in both levels, please come to the later meeting.
- Please bring a completed student information form with you the day of the meeting. You can download the form from the church website: www.franklinchristianchurch.com - click on the Shining Light link and look for the tab labeled "Students currently registered for fall". The form is two pages.
- September tuition is due August 15th. You may pay online on the church website or mail a check to my attention to the church address: Franklin Christian Church, Attn: Joni Myers, 4040 Murfreesboro Rd., Franklin, TN 37067.
- If you would like to set up for checks to be mailed directly from your bank each month, please make sure that you memo it to Shining Light so your check is not confused with our general offering. This creates all kinds of problems :)
- Our nursery class has a new name! This class will now be called "Walkers" to more accurately reflect the children in there. Here are some reminders for those parents whose child is going into the Walkers class:
- 1. Children need to be off the bottle and drinking from a sippy cup.
- 2. Children need to be eating finger foods and feeding themselves.
- 3. Children must be able to nap one time per day. They will go down for a nap around 11:45 AM. You will need to purchase a nap mat for nap time. We prefer the red/blue plastic ones that you can find at Walmart or Target. You can bring a king size pillowcase or custom cover for the mat in addition to pacifiers, blankets or stuffed animals that they need to help them nap.
- 4. Please keep in mind that there are 12 children in the Walkers class with three teachers. If you child needs to be rocked in order to go to sleep, it will be difficult for one teacher to stop helping with the other children and rock your child. Please help us by working with them now, so that by September, they will be ready!
- 5. September is always a transition month for these little guys, and we have awesome teachers working with them. If you can help us with #1 - #4, it will make for a smoother transition for your child!
