DVD's

We will have DVD's of the Valentine Sock Hop for sale ($5) by June 15th if you are interested in your own copy. Proceeds from the sale will go to the playground fund. E-mail me if you would like a copy.

Playground update: we were in the process of moving the fence and shopping for play systems when the flood hit. Right now we are not sure how damaged the fence is, but we hope that part of it is salvageable. And, of course, the fence was not covered by flood insurance, so our costs just went up. The church is also incurring expense in renovating from the flood; however, we do plan to move forward as much as we can this summer.

Final reminder for the year!

Nursery Program: coffee at 9:00 AM - program at 9:30 in sanctuary - doors will open in sanctuary at 9:25. Please have your child wear blue MDO shirt.

Pizza and sno-cones on Thursday. Both are on FCC MDO. No need to pack lunch unless your little one won't eat pizza. Hopefully, we will be able to have a big picnic outside if the weather cooperates!

Critter Camp Participants - will be e-mailing you soon with details! We will spend the next week or so getting the downstairs ready.

On a personal note - I appreciate your patience and understanding these past two weeks. Thank you for a wonderful year. I am so blessed as are my teachers to have such caring and wonderful parents. We look forward to a great fall!

There are some changes to fall schedule due to Williamson County's schedule. We are bumping up the start date. I will put out full information on blog by June 1, so please keep checking blog over summer!

Reminders:

1. MDO Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

2. Park in the car lane lot and walk up the hill to the entrance. The new entrance is to the right of the regular MDO doors.

3. Pack lunch for your child as usual.

4. Pick-up will be at the same entrance as drop-off.

Spring Program - Tuesday, May 18th - coffee upstairs outside sanctuary at 9:00. Doors open at 9:30; program at 9:45 AM. Pre-K Graduation party afterwards for Pre-K and their parents. Place to be announced.

There will be a basket in the foyer for flood donations. Money will go to our MDO families who have been affected by the flood. Cash or checks (payable to FCC).

Flood Collection

We were very blessed at FCC MDO that so many people saved our belongings, supplies, furniture, etc. Right now we may have a little damage to some cabinets but we don't know the extent. Otherwise, we are good. The church also had flood insurance which will help with drywall, floors, and paint.

Some of our MDO families were hit though. On Tuesday, May 11th and Thursday, May 13th, we will take up a collection. There will be a collection basket at the front check-in area.

You may leave cash or check (made out to Franklin Christian Church - memo MDO Flood families). Any amount would be appreciated!

UPDATE

We have all the changing tables that we need now. Here are a few updates:

1. Drop-off will take place in the entrance at the top of the hill to the right of the MDO doors. Please park in what is normally our car lane lot .

2. Teachers will meet you at the door to check your child in, so the children will see a familiar face right away.

3. The teachers have been instructed to go over the day's schedule with the children to calm any anxiety. The day was going to be a little different anyway because we are practicing in the sanctuary for our Spring Program!

4. Tell your children that they will have chapel both days with Ms. Maria and Ms. Joyce.

5. You will pick up your children in the same place as you dropped them off. End time next week is 1:00 PM.

Spring Program and Pre-K Graduation - May 18 - coffee at 9:00 upstairs; sanctuary doors open at 9:30; program begins at 9:45. Pre-K graduation party location TBA.

Nursery Spring Program - May 20 - 9:15 to 9:45. (We needed a bigger area for the children and parents, so we moved the program. Teachers will send home more info on Tuesday.)

Praise! An amazing amount of work has already been accomplished downstairs! We seem right now to be on target to finish the area promptly. Continue to pray that work goes according to schedule!

UPDATE

Several of you have e-mailed me offering assistance, supplies, toys, money, etc. for MDO. Thank you so much for your offers of help! What a great MDO family! We will know more after today but right now I've been told that everything was rescued. We have some awesome people at our church who worked two days straight pulling things to higher ground. However, if we end up with some needs, I will post them on this blog.

In addition, I am beginning to hear stories of MDO families who have suffered loss in this flood. FCC is gathering names now of both victims of the flood and those who are offering to help. If you have a talent or equipment or something of use to the flood victims and would like to offer it, please e-mail me. If you are in need of help in any way, please e-mail me and I will see that it gets passed to the right people. mdo@franklinchristianchurch.com

MDO NEXT WEEK

FCC MDO WILL BE IN SESSION NEXT WEEK! We will be moving classrooms upstairs this Thursday. It will not be a perfect situation, but it will be a good one. Our teachers will be working on Thursday to set up their classrooms, and we will discuss a few changes that will have to be made.

Please check the blog every day between now and next Tuesday, so you are aware of these changes. Here are a few that we know now:

1. Hours will be 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM - we will not be doing naps except perhaps with Nursery and that will be discussed on Thursday.

2. No car lane - drop off and pick up will take place up the hill to the left of the downstairs area. There will be NO access to or through the downstairs area.

3. We still plan to have the Spring Program and Pre-K graduation on Tuesday, May 18th.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this process. Unfortunately, we will not have the work completed before MDO is over for the year; however, those attending summer camp will be able to enjoy the new look! And everything should look great for the start of MDO this fall!

UPDATE

I went to church today to see the damage first hand. It is pretty bad. I am meeting with the church staff tomorrow to see what we can do about having MDO after this week. We have discussed several possibilities, so definitely stay tuned! I hope to have some decisions made by Wednesday.

NO MDO THIS WEEK

DUE TO SEVERE FLOODING AT FRANKLIN CHRISTIAN CHURCH THERE WILL BE NO MDO TUESDAY, MAY 4 AND THURSDAY, MAY 6. PLEASE CHECK BLOG THROUGHOUT THE WEEK FOR UPDATES.

SUNDAY MAY 2nd

Unfortunately FCC has had to cancel church services for Sunday, May 2nd. Parking lots in addition to our shuttle lot are underwater with some flooding occurring downstairs.

Please check blog the next couple of days for updates concerning MDO next Tuesday. Hopefully, I will know more after Sunday.

Critter Summer Camp

It looks like Critter Summer Camp is a go as we have had a good response from you and FCC members. For those of you who have signed up, here are our plans so far.

1. The format for camp will be similar to VBS in that the children will rotate to different areas. Right now we are looking at beginning each day with Chapel (our theme will be David and Psalms) and then the children will rotate to outdoor activities, games, crafts, snack, story time, and lunch. You will need to pack a lunch for your child each day, but we will provide the snack.

2. Be sure and dress your child in casual clothes with sturdy tennis shoes as we will be painting and playing outside. Don't forget sunscreen!

3. Reminder that times are a little different than MDO. Camp will be from 9:00 - 1:00 PM. No car lane as we will probably have check-in in the front foyer.
