Christmas Program will be Tuesday, Dec. 8th at 9:45 AM. We invite parents to drop off their child at 9:00 and join other parents in our Youth Auditorium upstairs for coffee and refreshments. Parents may enter the santuary at 9:30 AM.
Don't forget! Nursery children need to wear their blue MDO t-shirts tomorrow (Dec. 1). If they have a white turtleneck, have them wear that under the t-shirt.
The purpose of Shining Light is to connect children and their families to Jesus Christ through the nurturing of their spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth.
Daily Scripture
In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Shhh....

Shh...Santa is coming! Santa (a.k.a. Pat Petty) is making a surprise visit to FCC MDO on October 8th at the close of our Christmas program. Some of you may have seen Santa at the local elementary schools in the area. Santa will be visiting with the children and sitting for pictures. Parents are invited to bring their cameras for that special shot with Santa and their child/children. If you are unable to stay after the program, Ms. Joni will be happy to take a picture for you. And if your child is just not quite sure about Santa and would rather keep his/her distance, that is fine too! A note will be going home on Tuesday about it, but please don't say anything as we hope it will be a nice surprise!

UPDATES
Fire Safety Day was great! Mr. Ronnie did a fantastic job explaining fire safety to the kids, and it seemed that they thoroughly enjoyed it. Only one meltdown after the fire drill, and I have to claim the child as my own! It figures...
We evacuated in two minutes which Mr. Ronnie said was fantastic. The children were calm and orderly and followed their teachers' instructions. And, of course, I was impressed with our teachers and how they great they were with everything.
It was a valuable learning tool for us. We made some notes after the drill of things that we need to do to be more prepared, and our teachers gave us valuable insight too. Without the drill there were just some things that we just wouldn't have thought about.
So I believe that we are more fully prepared in the event of an emergency, and if my child is any indication, they remembered what they were taught and had a lot of fun too!
Thank you to all the moms who provided fire-themed snacks! We really appreciate your help!
And one last big thank you to Kely Fouraker who planned and implemented the day!

REMINDERS
Sorry this is late in the day. I spent a busy day making sure that we were ready for tomorrow!
Some reminders:
1. Preschool & Pre-K, please return your Fire Safety House forms tomorrow.
2. Check out your child's pictures from the form that was sent home on Tuesday. 50% of the sales will benefit the playground fund, and this could be a tremendous help since the chili cook-off/bake sale didn't meet expectations this year. Please ask your teachers for the note that was sent if you were absent on Tuesday.
3. If you only paid half of your supply fee in September, the other half ($30) is due in December. Some have not paid any of it, so please check your records. The supply fee covers the t-shirts, tote bags, crafts, supplies, and all the special events that we do at MDO.
4. Scholastic orders are due tomorrow whether online or returning form to school.
5. The M.O.M. group is meeting tomorrow for coffee at The Coffee Beanery at 9:15! Go over there and get to know some of your fellow MDO moms!
6. Next week I will be sending out info about the Christmas Program on December 8th.
Hope to see everyone tomorrow!

The Season for Giving
FCC MDO would like to do their share to celebrate the giving spirit of the season. If you already participate in this type of giving at your church home, then please do not feel obligated. If, however, you do not have a church home or are a member of FCC then MDO is going to be involved in two projects for the next few weeks.
1. Canned/Boxed food collection for The Well in Spring Hill. The Well provides food supplies for those in need in the southern part of Williamson County. Our sister church WellSpring runs the food bank. MDO will collect canned and/or box goods beginning November 19 through December 10. There will be a box in the foyer to collect your donations.
2. Graceworks does a Manger Store every year. I have worked it several times, and it is an awesome program. Those in need of help with gifts for Christmas have the opportunity to shop at a much reduced cost for items that have been donated. MDO will collect new toys or gift items (gifts for teens or seniors are especially needed); send them unwrapped, and we will deliver them to Graceworks. I will need to check on the last date for collection but it will be around December 3rd, I believe.
If you could contribute in one of these ways, that would be wonderful!

Fire Safety Day Update
Our Fire Safety Day will be this coming Thursday, Nov. 19th. We will have a visit from a fireman who will bring his fire safety house. The older children will have an opportunity to go through the house in a simulated situation. Mr. Ronnie will also bring all his gear and fire hats for the kids! We will have an actual fire drill for all the children, crafts and snacks, all with a fire safety theme. The Preschool and Pre-K classes will be taught about emergencies and dialing 911 (we are being coached on this by Mr. Ronnie).
The fire safety house is a tool that the Fire Department uses at the local schools. It will be set up in the parking lot, and the Preschool and Pre-K classes will have the opportunity to go through it. There is a fog machine that goes along with the demonstration. A medical form will be sent home on Tuesday giving your consent for your child to go through the house with the fog. If your child has a breathing condition that prevents him/her from doing this, please inform us. They can still go through the house but without the fog effects.
After speaking with Mr. Ronnie today, I realized how important it is for us to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Thursday will be a learning day for your children but also for us as teachers and administrators. Please take some time to talk to your child about the fire drill and following teacher directions.
The teachers will spend some time on Tuesday discussing this with them also. We hope to combine a safety lesson with a little fun that day, and we are looking forward to becoming well-prepared at FCC MDO!

Reminder
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the 12th and tuition for December is due. If you forget, you may drop a check by the church office and leave it in the MDO mailbox on Friday. Checks will not be turned into the church until Sunday, Nov. 15th. Thanks so much to those who have been communicating with me about payments! And once again, I apologize for asking that checks be turned into MDO rather than mailed, but it ensures that MDO receives the payment. We do appreciate your patience!

M.O.M. Outing
There will be a M.O.M. outing Thursday, November 19th around 9:15 AM at The Coffee Beanery (next to SteinMart on Hwy. 96). Come meet and get to know other moms from FCC MDO!
FYI - Moms HELP!
Hey, Moms - since you are probably the one who reads the blog, would you help us with something? We have several dads who come in and leave MDO using the car lane bridge rather than the pedestrian bridge. We want our attention to only be on the cars in the car lane, and we do not want to accidentally release cars only to find a dad (and your child!) on the bridge. Please help us by reminding them that the pedestrian bridge is the one with handrails in front of the church. THANK YOU!

T-Shirts
T-shirts went home in tote bags last week. If your child did not receive a t-shirt, and you ordered one, please drop a note to your teacher. We will wear the t-shirts at our Christmas Program on December 8 with a white turtleneck under them and jeans. Your child is free to wear the t-shirt to school whenever she/he wants, however!
Pictures
Pictures for Preschool and Pre-K will take place Thursday. If your child missed yesterday's picture, we will have make-ups next week - either Tuesday or Thursday. If you would like to drop a note to your teacher telling her which day you would prefer, that would be great!
Fire Safety Day
We will have a Fire Safety Day on Thursday, November 19th. This will take the place of our Farmer's Market Day which was scheduled for November 10. We had the opportunity to have someone come out and talk to the children about fire safety, and we have planned some fun activities to go along with this theme. There will also be a fire drill that day so we are all prepared in the event of an emergency. Also be forewarned - we will be teaching the children about dialing 911, so you may want to follow up afterwards to ensure you don't have any "accidentally" calling from home! A packet of information for you will go home that day. As always we will adapt the lesson to the age of the children!

M.O.M. Meeting
There will be a M.O.M. meeting this coming Thursday, Nov. 5 at 9:15 AM. They will be discussing a variety of topics and planning a M.O.M. social for moms only!
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 3
Don't forget that individual pictures for Nursery, Toddler 1, Toddler 2 and siblings are scheduled for tomorrow. It looks like it will be pretty enough to take them outside, so keep that in mind as you dress them. Individual pictures for Preschool and Pre-K will be Thursday, Nov. 5.
