Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Name that Tune!

I received quite a few requests lately for the songs that we are currently learning in Chapel so I thought I would share these with you all. I must say that your children have just been so sweet with their singing and excitement during Chapel time! It is delightful to witness them praise with all their hearts!

Nursery and Toddler 1
We are learning all about how wonderfully God made us. We have talked about our hands, feet, mouth, and eyes and also how God created love. We have learned how to sign "God", ask them to show you, they know it! They also know how to sign "Love". We are learning that God gave us the Bible and that we are to take good care of His Holy word. Some of the songs we sing are "God is so Good", "My God is so Big, (Strong & Mighty)", "The B-I-B-L-E", and "What a Mighty God we Serve!"

Toddler 2 through Pre-K
Most of the songs can be found online at www.iTunes.com or www.janaalayra.com. If you have any questions or trouble locating them, please let me know. I am happy to see how I can help out.

"Absolutely Nothin'", "He is God", "Rain or Pour", "Fixin' My Eyes", "I Will Fight this Fight" are by Jana Alayra, from her "Jump Into the Light", "Dig Down Deep", and "Believin' On" albums.

"Great Big God" the one I use is from a Children's Church recording done by a church in KY. You can find many other similar versions on iTunes. I like the Kids Vineyard Worship version.

"Love of Jesus" is by Tony Salerno from a cd called, "Scripture Songs for Children". I believe it is out of print.

Also, ask your children how many books are in the Bible, how many testaments are in the Bible, and how many books in the old and new testaments. They have also learned a BIG word, Pentateuch. (The first five books of the Old Testament.) They are SO smart!!! They are such great listeners and it is amazing to see how well they are "getting it" each week as we review. If you haven't yet, ask about all of the secret treasures they have learned and the stories that go along with each one.

I, on behalf of Mrs. Jeanette, thank you for sharing your precious little ones with us. We are honored, blessed and pleased to be a part of their young lives.

Kindergarten Registration

If your child is going to kindergarten next fall, be sure and check out the Williamson County Schools website to see when your school has registration.  I think some schools are even doing early registration.  Last year when my youngest was in Pre-K, her school had a Sneak Peek day where we rode a school bus for a little bit, visited all the kindergarten classrooms, and had milk and cookies in the cafeteria.  My daughter went from being scared to death at the thought of kindergarten to asking when on earth was she going to get to go to that new school.

The individual schools will announce on their websites what activities they have planned and the scheduled dates.  To access each school, go to www.wcs.edu.

Some Dates to Note

  • Scholastic orders are due February 28
  • No car lane Tuesday, March 6th - Voting at FCC - my recommendation is to park across the creek as it will be crazy in the parking lot facing Murfreesboro Rd/Hwy 96.  Voters will be going up the hill to the side entrance to vote.  I expect a heavy voter turn-out that day.
  • We hope to have playground in before Spring Break.  They are doing awesome work getting it ready and equipment is expected to arrive around March 14.
  • Easter Egg Hunt March 28 and 29.  More details to come.
  • Spring Program and Pre-K graduation May 15 and 16.  Monday only Pre-K students are invited to participate in the graduation ceremony.

FYI

I have had several e-mails this weekend.  MDO has cases of Fifth Disease as well as Hand, Foot and Mouth.  I sent some information about Fifth home with Toddler 2 and Pre-K 3, but for others who may be concerned, please go to www.kidshealth.org.  Click on viruses/skin rashes, etc.  I'm sure there will be information about Hand, Foot and Mouth on there as well.  Right now, the cases I've known about have been in Nursery, Toddler 1, Toddler 2 and Pre-K 3.  If there are other classes that have been affected, please shoot me a quick e-mail, so I can alert parents.

Thanks

Preschool and Pre-K

I think that I just set a new record for number of posts in one day!  Sorry about that but while it is on my mind...

When you receive your confirmation letter for fall, please make note of the class that your child has been assigned.  Those with those late summer, early fall birthdays are sometimes hard to determine.  I conferred with the teachers about which class (Preschool or Pre-K) to place the child.  Some children will spend two years in Preschool and some will spend two years in Pre-K because of the late birthday.

If you would like to discuss placement, please talk to your child's teacher or come see me.  We want to make the best placement possible, but we also realize that it is early in the year and many changes and growth can occur over the summer.  So please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Thanks again!

Registration for Fall 2012

Just a note that the response for Fall 2012 has been tremendous, and there are many classes that are now full with waiting lists.  If you have friends who are interested in the program, please tell them that we do have availability for Monday/Wednesday.  We plan to expand that option to its full capacity this coming fall.

You will receive a note home this week confirming your registration.  The placement is tentative, however, until we receive your Registration/Supply fee.  Look for the envelope with the confirmation letter in your child's folder.

MDO T-Shirts

We have a large bulletin board near the elevator that we plan to decorate with pictures of our playground design and progress and our wonderful MDO classes.  I was able to take a few class shots last Thursday with the children in their MDO t-shirts , but I need to take Wednesday classes and a few more of Thursday.

If you would, please have your child wear his/her navy MDO t-shirt this Wednesday and Thursday (15th and 16th).  I will try to finish up the pictures and hopefully get the bulletin board up by next week.

THANKS!

Hey, Daddy-O! It's a Valentine Sock Hop!

Gear up for the Valentine Sock Hop!
The children will have a 50's sock hop and ice cream party on Monday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 14th.
Pull out the poodle skirts, gel for ducktails, rolled up jeans and/or pony tails for your little one.  Ms. Maria is teaching them 50's dances and it will go along with our Critter Cuisine unit, so expect them to bake some goodies and enjoy an ice cream sundae that day.  We promise to take lots of pictures and video!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Prayer Request

We would like to ask for prayers for one of our own MDO moms, Lindsay.  She will have surgery to remove a malignant tumor from her pancreas Friday morning.  She is expected to be in the hospital four to six days.  She has two sweet little boys at MDO, and we ask for prayer that surgery will go well, and the tumor will be completely removed .  Please pray for her husband and family who are with her during this time as well as the doctors, surgeons, and nurses seeing to her care.

Thank you

Reminders

I hate to sound like a broken record (I think that I just dated myself...), but please help us to be safe in the car lane in the following ways:
  • Do not unbuckle your child from his restraint device until you are one of the first of three cars in the car lane.  We will only unload the first three cars in each of the lanes.  Please do not allow your child to ride "loose" up front!
  • Please remain in the car while we help your child out of the car.
  • Wives, please tell your husbands to not drive or walk over the bridge or park in the car lane and walk their children through the cars.  I just can't be any clearer than that :)  We are trying to be safe, and if we can't see you or your children then we may make a mistake.
Reminder to Thursday children - please wear your navy MDO t-shirts tomorrow for our groundbreaking ceremony.  We will post some of the pics to the blog this weekend.

Monday and Tuesday - Valentine Sock Hop - dress in 50's clothing and plan to dance and party with ice cream sundaes and other treats!

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP WITH ALL OF THIS!

AWESOME NEWS!

GREAT NEWS!
OUR PLAYGROUND WAS APPROVED BY THE COUNTY!

We plan to have a groundbreaking ceremony this Thursday, the 9th.  Please have your child wear his/her MDO navy t-shirt and sturdy shoes.  We will be taking a large group picture at the ground-breaking.

Plans are to begin excavation next week.  Some equipment has already been ordered, and the rest will be ordered in the next couple of days.  After that we will begin to set up our community install, but that will happen only after we see exactly what our needs will be.

We appreciate your patience.  All I can say is that this has been a very long process considering it was one of my first goals when I took this job four years ago.  Please continue to pray that work, delivery, excavation, etc. will go smoothly and steadily!  Thanks!

Updates

Obviously, we have had several cases of "stuff" going around MDO.  I have had reports of walking pneumonia, vomiting, high fever, coughing, colds, and RSV to just name some.  Several of our teachers and their children have come down with things also.  Please do not send your child if he/she is running a fever.  Please help us by teaching them to cover mouths when coughing or sneezing.  We use hand sanitizer in the classroom, and we have been diligent about using disinfectant wipes and spray.  Hopefully, we will get through this soon, but you can help by not sending your child if he/she is sick thus spreading it again.
Thank you :)
