Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Make-up Days at MDO

We have scheduled two make-up days for FCC MDO in March. We have access to the building on Mondays, and we have worked out a few substitute positions that were necessary in order to do them.

Monday, March 22nd and Monday, March 29th we will have FCC MDO from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM in addition to our regularly scheduled Tuesday and Thursday. We apologize in advance if Mondays were not a good day for you and your child, but it was our only option.

This week we begin a new series of units: Spring Weather (we can dream!), Dr. Seuss, and Deep Sea Adventures finishes out the month of April.

Oops!

I love my teachers! They keep me on my toes and catch my mistakes! They reminded me to clarify that the "Donuts with Daddy Day" (March 16) is for Toddler 1 through Pre-K. The Nursery little ones have a tough time separating from dad when it's time to go to work! We want everyone happy!

Toddler 1 and Toddler 2 will do their donut eating in their respective classrooms. Preschool through Pre-K will be in the 4-plex which is where we have chapel and music. We will open up the walls to accommodate everyone.

Hope to see you there!

DONUTS WITH DADDY

We will have DONUTS WITH DADDY this year on Tuesday, March 16th. Please join us for donuts and other goodies that morning from 9:00 - 9:30 AM Nothing else is planned that day (i.e. firetruck last year), so Dads, you won't have to wait on anything! Come meet your child's teachers and the other MDO dads!

If your child's father cannot attend, feel free to send an uncle, grandpa, or even mom!

(So we can get started right at 9:00, we won't do car lane that morning but will have it in the afternoon.)

HAITI

Ms. Kelly has graciously offered to count all our Haiti change for us! So we are going to take her up on it! We will have a class count toward the end of next week.

SNOW DAYS

I know that there is some frustration with the number of snow days that we have had so far this year. We are in the process of trying to work on some make-up days; however, I would like to quickly share with you some of our obstacles.

1. We cannot override Wms. Co. and go despite closing. Many of our teachers have elementary age children who are out as well, and we do not have the room or the manpower to watch that many extra children. Some of our teachers, as well as myself, live in areas where the roads are more difficult to navigate if there is ice.

2. We are attempting to schedule two Mondays as make-up days; however, we have several teachers who work at other jobs on Mondays and some who go to graduate school which make it impossible for them to come in on a Monday. On Wednesdays we have MOPS at FCC and on Fridays the building is cleaned for Sunday services.

3. We are ultimately both a business and a ministry and as such have expenses. Our expenses are due whether we are in attendance or not. Our budget is based on FCC MDO being at capacity student-wise and to reduce tuition affects our budget. Oftentimes we don't realize the expenses involved in running the program.

If at all possible, we will try to do some make-up days. I wanted to let you know that I have been working on it, and my teachers are very supportive. If we can overcome some of the obstacles, we will let you know!

ENJOY THE WARM WEATHER NOW!

Stay tuned for sock hop pictures! I hope to work on them later this weekend. The children had a really good time, and they looked adorable!

If you need the FED EIN number for FCC in order to claim childcare on your taxes, please e-mail me at mdo@franklinchristianchurch.com and I will send it to you. Several of you have asked and I haven't gotten the information to you yet.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Addition to previous post

Because there will be major clean-up tomorrow for our teachers, we will NOT have car lane in the AFTERNOON. This will allow our teachers to clean their rooms and Ms. Kely, Ms. Maria and I to clean the chapel area. Thanks for your understanding!

Thursday Feb. 11

Valentine Sock Hop tomorrow! Wear your cool fifties clothes, dance with Ms. Maria and her favorite 50's music, and make ice cream sundaes!

Make sure you remind your teacher if your child is allergic to any of the following:
ice cream, whipped cream, cherries, m&m's or sprinkles, and sugar cookies.

Don't forget your valentines if your class is exchanging them!

And finally, remember your Haiti change!!

(Also, if you haven't checked out the blog lately, scroll down for cute pictures of dental health day.)

Updates

Be sure and check the blog tomorrow (Wednesday) as we may have to make adjustments to our sock hop if Wms. Co. should go late that day. We have purchased quite a few Valentine crafts that the teachers want to do with the children, so we may just have Thursday be a craft day.

If we move the sock hop, it will be next Tuesday, Feb. 16th, but check the blog tomorrow and hopefully we will know more about this crazy weather!

***Due to this being our third snow day, please deduct $10 from February 16th tuition payment. Tuition will be $130 or $250 (for 2 children). If we are out more days, I will continue to adjust. Tuition is due Tuesday, February 16th. It will be tuition for the month of March; remember we are staying one month ahead.

Keep that change for Haiti rolling in!

Ms. Kelly and Ms. Kellie's class seem to be winning hands down so far. Either Preschool class is not far beyond (Preschool 1 had an anonymous donor today at church!).

We will keep collecting until February 16th. Our goal - $1000.

The kids' goal? A pizza party for the class who raises the most!

Thursday Feb. 4

I think that we will be on time tomorrow but check Wms. Co. schools just in case we go an hour late. MDO will begin at 10:00 AM if that's the case.

Don't forget your spare change for Haiti! We will continue to collect until February 16th now. The classes are competing for a pizza party!

INFO

Even though we have not sent out catalogues for February Scholastic, I have gone online and set up this month's ordering. I did Honeybee, Firefly, See-Saw (K-1), and Lucky (2nd - 3rd) for those of you who have older children and may want to order.

If you would like to return next fall and have not had a chance to submit your registration form, please e-mail me your intent so that I can add your child to the rolls.

Reminder - FCC MDO new e-mail address mdo@franklinchristianchurch.com

MDO closed Tuesday, February 2nd

Unfortunately, cabin fever will have to remain at an all time high tomorrow as Williamson County schools are called off due to the road conditions. We will try again on Thursday! We have a special guest coming that day to talk about dental health and bring goody bags for the children.

Remember if Williamson County goes late on Thursday, we will go late also, but we will be in session. No car lane though if we go late.

Stay safe!
