The purpose of Shining Light is to connect children and their families to Jesus Christ through the nurturing of their spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth.
Daily Scripture
In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Open Blog
After weeding out all the e-mail addresses that I could, I still did not have enough room to add new students to our private blog. Therefore, I am going to try and make it an open blog for awhile. I will not put any pictures on there until I determine how parents feel about that. The good part is now both parents can have access to what is going on as well as grandparents or nannies or anyone else who may keep your child from time to time.
So from now on you will not have to sign in to access the blog. I will be sure and let you know if I make any further changes!

Spent a snowy day working on registration forms for next year. I have only a few places left in Tues/Thurs Pre-K, so if you haven't turned in a form for that class and want to, please do so soon. Confirmations will go out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks!

SNOW DAYS
Unfortunately, it looks like snow again this week. I am trying to work out a make-up day on Mondays. I have to clear it through the church first to make sure the building is available and then I have to find enough substitutes to take the place of those teachers who have other jobs on Mondays. So it is not without a few obstacles; however, we will try our best. The Wednesday program will be the easiest to make work as we have fewer teachers on that day.
Tentative make-up day if we are out tomorrow, Wednesday, January 26th: Monday, January 31st. Again this is pending approval by the church. Please stay tuned.
One request: please start praying for an early Spring!

INTERNET!
This week has turned out great for me as we now have INTERNET downstairs in the children's area!
This will allow me to check e-mails during the day, look up curriculum from sites that I've purchased, update the blog, and order materials for MDO. I should be able to answer e-mails more promptly than I have in the past. So I am thrilled needless to say!
So if you need to e-mail a request or question on a school day, please do so, and I will get back to you as quickly as I can.
WEDNESDAYS! Today has been a wonderful day with your children! They seem to have adjusted easily and well. Unfortunately, our tote bag order didn't come in - I guess a snow delay - the two year old class still needs them, but hopefully we will have tote bags by next Wednesday.

Reminders
We are looking forward to a good week at MDO! I know everyone is ready to have a little free time after being snow-bound last week.
Some reminders:
Some reminders:
- Pajama Day will be Tuesday, January 25th - wear your favorite PJ's to school! We will have hot chocolate and marshmallows (okay, maybe chocolate milk and marshmallows!) and watch a winter-themed movie during music time.
- Thursday, January 20th - tuition for Tues/Thurs will be due and so will registration forms for next year. We would like to see what our numbers are going to be so we can let others know whether there will be openings. Warning to those who have little ones for the Nursery class next year - we are getting many e-mails about availability for that class since we are one of the few programs that take at 12 months. So get your registration forms in!
- Wednesday parents - we will hold off on the special days like Pajama Day until the little ones get used to us and our numbers stabilize a little. We do plan to begin chapel and music this coming Wednesday though. We will also send home fall registration forms this week.
Current Curriculum: Winter!
Next: Community Helpers and then Safari Animals
Upcoming events: Pajama Day (Jan. 25), Valentine Sock Hop (Feb. 10)

Fall Registration
Fall Registration forms went home this week. Please make sure that you circle at the top whether you prefer Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs. If it doesn't matter, circle both. If you need another registration form for a new sibling, either e-mail me or pick one up in the foyer on the bookcase. New siblings are considered returning students! We tried to give those in Pre-K that we thought would be returning a form, but if you have decided not to send your child to kindergarten next year, please come back this fall!
Registration forms are due back by January 20th. The registration fee of $50 per child is due February 24th. The registration holds your spot over the summer and guarantees you placement in the fall.
Upcoming: Pajama/Hot Cocoa/Marshmallow/Movie day - Tuesday, January 18 Wear your favorite comfy PJ's!
