Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Update to Picture Pick-up

Unfortunately, pictures will not be ready tomorrow or Thursday.  Andrea Davis will be in touch with those of you who ordered.  I do apologize; I did not find out until after 2:00 PM today.  I am so sorry for any inconvenience that this delay will cause.  If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail Andrea at andrea@andreadavisphotography.com.  Thank you.

LAST MINUTE DETAILS

First of all, I apologize about car lane this morning (Monday).  We had a few teachers running late.  We always need two teachers in each class so one can stay in the room and one can go outside, and that wasn't going to be possible this morning.

We plan to have car lane on Tuesday but NO CAR LANE Wednesday or Thursday due to program.  Reminder - doors to sanctuary upstairs will open at 9:30; program to begin around 9:45.  Andrea Davis Photography will be upstairs handing out picture orders before program.

For those of you new to MDO - you can access the upstairs by elevator.  When you enter downstairs, go to your left and elevator is just past men's restroom.  You will find the outside foyer to the sanctuary on the second floor.

FYI - we have had several cases of pink eye at MDO - seems to be mostly Preschool classes.  Keep an "eye" out...sorry - bad pun...

Giving Back at Christmas

Thank you to all who gave to our Christmas Giving project.  Ms. Kely took $375 in cash to The Well yesterday.  The gentleman working there told her that her timing couldn't have been better as Friday was the last day they were going to be able to purchase gifts.  Our contribution should help out quite a bit ensuring that some needy children have gifts at Christmas.

I sent $365 to World Vision.  With that we were able to purchase three goats, six chickens, five ducks and provide $385 worth of medicines to third world countries!

Thank you so much!

Just a reminder that the third part of our giving back is within our own MDO family.  Please bring a new, wrapped book for your child's class (no more than $5).  We will exchange books at the class party on the 14th and 15th.  Label your wrapped book "boy", "girl", or "either".

Individual and class pictures will be available on the 14th and 15th before the Christmas program.  Andrea will set up in the foyer upstairs outside the sanctuary.  If you are not going to be there either of those days, please contact Andrea at andrea@andreadavisphotography.com.

And finally, some wonderful parents brought the teachers breakfast on Thursday.  They were thrilled, and we appreciated the "goodies"!  Thank you!

UPDATES

Here are a few updates - probably in random order as that tends to be the way my mind works!

  • This Thursday is the last day to send in $10 to World Vision/The Well.  We will total $$ on that day and send out checks on Friday.
  • Don't forget a $5 book for the book exchange on our party/program day.  The book can be for a boy, girl, or either.  Please wrap it and label "boy", "girl", "either".
  • We are supposed to receive our first Kroger Cares check for $320 and some change!  Thank you to all who have been using your card!  It's beginning to add up!
  • Disappointing news in that we still have not received a check from Chick-Fil-A despite repeated attempts to get in touch with them.  They will not even give us an amount made.  Obviously, I will have trouble doing business with that particular location again!  We have heard that the one in Cool Springs is very good to work with and prompt in payment.
  • We have had some good news in that our former church administrator is returning to FCC January 1st.  Jack Holloway was a big proponent of our playground, and he and I are discussing specific dates now for installation.  Our excavation work is going to be tricky with this miserable weather that we've been having lately.
  • We have one confirmed case of hand, foot, and mouth virus in the nursery.  Symptoms are a rash and fever.
  • Handout is going home about how to deal with children and holiday stress!  I thought it might be good reading.  Look for it in your child's folder.
  • The children are learning all about the "reason for the season" in chapel and getting ready for the Christmas program.  Make plans to attend; they are always cute!  Please have your child wear a white or red turtleneck, navy MDO t-shirt and jeans.
