Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

UPDATE

Well, I realized how important the blog can be this week as a way to get information out to parents!  If you haven't gotten used to using it, please try to do so.  We have about 130 parents between the two programs, and it makes it much easier to just put the information on the blog.  The blog is now an open one, so you can always access it without a password which eliminates some of the confusion of the past.  I have it on my "favorites" toolbar, so I can just click CritterBuzz and go immediately to it.

With that said, I have more information for you about next week.  We WILL have MDO!  Toddler 1 on Tuesday/Thursday and the Toddler (2's) on Wednesday will move rooms.  Toddler 1 will be in the blue room (our indoor play area) and the 2's on Wednesday will move next door to the green room.

Traffic will need to flow to the right as you come in the door.  The area around the elevator, men's restroom, and the Toddler 1 room will be blocked off for Tuesday and perhaps Wednesday.  We think (and pray!) that everything will be back in order by Thursday.

FYI - The clean-up was done by a professional company that handles this kind of thing.  The rooms were sanitized twice with a spore-killing spray and the furniture was hand-cleaned and sanitized by the company.  (I didn't want you to visualize me on my hands and knees with a Magic Eraser scrubbing away...)  Drywall is being replaced as well as carpet.  So everything has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized!

We are rescheduling Donuts with Dad for Tuesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 11.  The Spring Program and Pre-K graduation will still be on Tuesday, May 17, and a Spring Program is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18th.

More information to come soon. Have a great weekend!

NO MDO THIS WEEK

As the saying goes:  "It's Deja-vu all over again...".  When I arrived at the church last night, I could not help but notice that it seemed exactly like last year when I first saw the flood devastation.

The good news:  it is NOT as bad as last year!
The bad news:  it will take a week to get the mess cleaned up.

Sewage spewed from every drain in the downstairs area - so every bathroom and utility closet.  Brown sewage floated down the left hallway into the Toddler 1 and infant nursery.  After that it was pretty much contained to the bathrooms and closets.

ServPro came in and worked all night cleaning it up and identifying carpet and drywall that needed to be replaced.  Now we wait for it to dry out - they have fans going to help the process.  After the drywall work is completed, we can lay new carpet.  The plan, if all goes well, is to have it completed for church on Sunday.

This was such a freak accident that I am still in disbelief (it resulted from the county trying to clean out a blocked sewer line).  I apologize to those parents who did not receive the news and showed up this morning.  I made it a little after 9:00, but our children's ministry director was at the front informing parents.

We do plan to reschedule Donuts with Dad; however, I want to look at the calendar carefully before I throw a date out there.  I realize that you all probably have many questions to ask about make-up days, etc.  All I can ask is that you give me some time to think and plan.  I want to have everything and everyone properly scheduled before I commit to anything.

Thanks for your patience.  Prayers would be appreciated!

IMMEDIATE NOTICE: MDO CANCELED THIS WEEK

TUES/THURS and WED MDO will not meet due to a massive sewage leak in the lower level of the church building.

It is not by choice that we are closed, but the County has deemed the building unusable until everything is cleaned up.
We do apologize for the inconvenience and more details will be forthcoming as soon as possible. Stay tuned to the blog for updates and notices.

DONUTS WITH DAD

Our Donuts with Dad will be Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (26th and 27th).  There will be no car lane that morning as dads are welcome to park in the front lot and bring their children in.  Donuts, coffee and juice will be in both hallways.  Drop off your child's tote, fill your plates and return to your child's room.  Each room will host its own Donuts with Dad.  If you have two children, simply split your time between both.  We will begin at 9:00 AM and end about 9:45 AM or so.

Nursery dads - always tricky with the little ones!  Please drop off tote bags but not child and head to the back where our blue playroom is.  The teachers will be in there and you can go pick up donuts and coffee.  Afterward, the teachers will take the children back to their room which should be less upsetting to them.

And finally, if Dad cannot make it, please feel free to bring Grandpa, Mom, Uncle or anyone who would like to take Dad's place for the day!

Have a Blessed Easter!

Upcoming Events at FCC MDO

This week we will have our Easter Egg Hunt at FCC MDO.  If you have not already brought in your 12 filled eggs, please do so.  If you can (and I know this is difficult since I went shopping this weekend), try to avoid chocolate since it melts outside.  The weather  forecast continues to change, but right now, it looks like it will be rainy on Wednesday and pretty on Thursday.  If at all possible, we plan to do the hunt outside.  If we are unable to, we will have the hunt in our chapel/Spanish area.

The young classes (Nursery and Toddler 1) will hunt in our blue room which we decorate for the occasion.

We plan to do the hunt on Wednesday morning, so we invite all Bible Study children to participate also!

We will also be concentrating on the Easter Story in our chapel time this week.  The children will learn that we are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.  In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here; he has risen!"  Luke 24:4-6

Next week:  Donuts with Dad (Tuesday and Wednesday) - more details to come.

ZOO DAY

I spoke with Nashville Zoo.  They were very nice and willing to reschedule.  After speaking with her though, May 7 and May 13 were not good dates.  I will talk to the teachers and we will make plans for another day.  If that does not work out, they will refund our money.

Have a good and safe weekend!

APRIL 15

Miserable weather today...I am going to Nashville Zoo this morning with the intention of trying to reschedule the zoo day for sometime in May.  Stay home and stay dry today and I will let you know what I find out.

ZOO DAY

Tomorrow is Zoo Day, and I apologize now for picking a day that promises severe weather.  I tried my best to have no input in the day chosen as it always tends to rain if I pick it.  I'm sure the Easter Egg Hunt will be wet too!

I tried to pick up our tickets today without success as the crowds were major when I arrived.  I had mentioned a 10:00 AM start date, but after seeing the overwhelming number of school buses there, I do not think that would be a good time because public school buses will be arriving then.

I plan to be there right at 9:00 AM.  I will pick up tickets and put them with your order form.  I will wait until 9:20 and then leave the rest of the tickets (hopefully) at the group ticket line.

If you have a membership, there is no need to wait or arrive at 9:00 AM.  Only those needing tickets must meet up with me.

As for having a group picnic, I don't think the weather will cooperate, but you may want to find some families to lunch with afterwards.  The Chik-fil-A in Brentwood might be a good spot.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate from 9:00 to about noon tomorrow, and we can enjoy being with each other.  I look forward to seeing you!  If you did not order tickets but want to come, please do!  You will just pay the regular price ($13/adult; $8 children).

If you are not planning to come tomorrow but have purchased tickets, I am so sorry but the reduced tickets were only good for April 15th.

SEE YOU AT THE ZOO!

Tuition Due for Wednesday Program

JUST A REMINDER THAT TUITION IS DUE THIS WEEK FOR THE WEDNESDAY PROGRAM.

EASTER EGG HUNT

Our Easter Egg hunts will be Wednesday, April 20 and Thursday, April 21.  We need parents to bring in 12 eggs per child filled with a treat (please no chocolate - it melts!).  We plan to take the older classes outside to the big field.  The younger classes will have their hunt in the blue room.  Please bring your child an Easter basket on the day of the hunt.

If possible, please bring eggs in on Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14, so we can adequately prepare.  We invite our Bible Study children to participate too on that Wednesday.  We will have the hunt in the morning and take lots of pictures!

ZOO DAY

Our zoo day tickets (April 15) have been ordered.  FCC is writing me one check to give to Nashville Zoo, so if you turned in your form and paid for tickets, you are all set.  I will get there early that morning to make sure everything is in order.

I thought we should plan on a 10:00 AM meeting time.  If you do not have a membership, parking is $5 per vehicle.  There are picnic tables in the center of the zoo, and I thought if the day is nice, we could picnic there.

The turn-out for Zoo Day was awesome, and I look forward to seeing everyone!  If you did not turn in a form but would like to come, feel free to join us.  You will just have to pay the regular price.

Pray for beautiful weather!  Hopefully, it will NOT be like today!

FYI

I will be away from MDO April 7-13.  Because of that, we will only have morning car lane on April 7 and 12.  I have the luxury this year of being able to stay later than my staff since my child is at MDO; however it puts a burden on those who need to leave immediately at 2:15 if there is not someone available to stay later.  Thanks for your understanding on this.  We WILL do car lane those mornings, however.

And as a reminder to those using car lane - we do end at 2:00 PM.  Please try to be prompt in picking up your child.  We would really appreciate it!
