As the saying goes: "It's Deja-vu all over again...". When I arrived at the church last night, I could not help but notice that it seemed exactly like last year when I first saw the flood devastation.
The good news: it is NOT as bad as last year!
The bad news: it will take a week to get the mess cleaned up.
Sewage spewed from every drain in the downstairs area - so every bathroom and utility closet. Brown sewage floated down the left hallway into the Toddler 1 and infant nursery. After that it was pretty much contained to the bathrooms and closets.
ServPro came in and worked all night cleaning it up and identifying carpet and drywall that needed to be replaced. Now we wait for it to dry out - they have fans going to help the process. After the drywall work is completed, we can lay new carpet. The plan, if all goes well, is to have it completed for church on Sunday.
This was such a freak accident that I am still in disbelief (it resulted from the county trying to clean out a blocked sewer line). I apologize to those parents who did not receive the news and showed up this morning. I made it a little after 9:00, but our children's ministry director was at the front informing parents.
We do plan to reschedule Donuts with Dad; however, I want to look at the calendar carefully before I throw a date out there. I realize that you all probably have many questions to ask about make-up days, etc. All I can ask is that you give me some time to think and plan. I want to have everything and everyone properly scheduled before I commit to anything.
Thanks for your patience. Prayers would be appreciated!
