Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Updates

Car Lane:  thank you for a smooth transition to morning car lane!  If you would, please make sure you are doing the following:

  • If bringing in, park across the creek and come in by the pedestrian bridge (bridge directly in front of church).
  • Please enter at Hwy. 96 entrance and exit out Clovercroft - not 96.
  • Please put your car in park if you are one of the first three in line and wait until someone has directed you to exit before doing so.
  • Please stay in the car while the teacher removes your child.  This helps expedite everything.
Thanks for helping us keep your children safe!

Picture Day - October 3, 4, and 5th - make-ups October 12 and 13th

CAR LANE!

You will notice a difference in the front parking lot in the mornings beginning tomorrow.  There will be orange cones forming a center line and also blocking off a few spaces, so we have plenty of room for cars to move through the car lane.  We will begin unloading cars at 8:55 AM and do so until 9:10 AM.

Please form two lines - one on each side of the cones.  A teacher will come and unload your child from the car.  Please have tote bag at the ready.  The tags have been color-coded to help teachers find your child's classroom.  One teacher will stay in the room to welcome the children while one leaves to help children out of the cars.

We will unload three cars on each side at a time.  Please do not unbuckle your child unless you are one of the first three in line!  Please watch traffic directions - Ms. Maria will be directing cars pulling into the lanes; I will be directing cars as they exit from the parking lot.

A few things to remember:
1.  Enter only from Hwy. 96 - not Clovercroft.  Cars will be exiting across bridge onto Clovercroft.
2.  Please do not talk on your cell while we are unloading.  Safety is a huge concern as well as operating the lane quickly and efficiently.
3.  If you would like to bring your child in, that is perfectly fine.  Please park across the creek and use the pedestrian bridge to access the front doors.

And yep, I picked this day, and it's supposed to rain...it never fails.  Be patient as it will be our first day AND potentially in the rain!

Scholastic

Thank you to all of you who have placed Scholastic orders.  We are almost at a target amount to receive extra back to school bonus goodies for September, so if you would like to submit an order this weekend, we would love it!  We will close out orders on Monday.  If you have never ordered online from Scholastic, the order code is on the right side of the blog.  Many books are $1 to $3 and shipping will be free as we place all the orders together (also no tax).

And I love this blog because when in the rush of doing other things (Muffins with Mom) and I forget to hand out information, I can still get news relayed to you over the weekend.  My next post will be about car lane beginning on Monday.  Tues/Thurs parents - your handouts are sitting in my box on my desk!  So I will forward the information to you later this weekend.

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather!

UPDATES

Thanks to all the moms who came to breakfast this morning.  We hope you enjoyed your time in the classroom.  Don't forget Muffins with Mom for Tues/Thurs is tomorrow.

Reminder that tomorrow is last day to pay October's tuition without late fee.  Late fee of $15 after 25th.  We are still working on Paypal and hope to have it set up soon.  A few glitches, but we're working on them.  All checks are made payable to FRANKLIN CHRISTIAN CHURCH.  Thanks!

A note was sent home today (and will go out tomorrow) about car lane starting on Monday.  Please read!  Which reminds me - be sure and check your child's folder each day!  Admire the artwork and read the notes from the teachers - that way everybody knows they are loved :)

And finally - Preschool parents!!!  We are really working on potty-training.  Please NO DIAPERS!  Pull-ups or underwear only.  We do not have diaper changing facilities in either of those classrooms.  Please help us by encouraging your child to at least try the potty.  I know it's frustrating; I was there again just two years ago, but we really, really need to have them actively working on it in the Preschool classes (3-4).

Ms. Joyce

Those of you who were with us last year remember Ms. Joyce who taught the children in chapel.  She is a woman of great inspiration and faith, and we were so proud that she was a part of our MDO family last year.  The children love her, and she just has a fantastic way of presenting the Bible to these little ones.

We want to ask for prayer for Ms. Joyce this coming weekend and especially on Monday as she is having major surgery which will require up to a year of recovery.  It will correct some physical issues that she has had with her back that have steadily grown worse.  She was possibly facing a wheelchair in her near future if she did not have this surgery.

The operation will take place in St. Louis on Monday.  She will be there approximately 7-10 days.  For those of you who know her and would like to follow her journey, a CaringBridge website has been set up:  www.caringbridge.org/visit/joycebell.

We will be praying for her at MDO and we ask for your prayers too.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Muffins with Mom and other stuff

Don't forget to make plans to come to Muffins with Mom on September 21 and 22!  Plan to spend some time with your child and his/her teachers in their classroom.  If you have two children at MDO, you can split your time between classes.  Coffee, muffins and other treats will be set up in the hallways.  Time is from 9:00 - 10:00 AM.  This will give you the opportunity to meet some of the other parents in your child's classroom and get to know the teachers a little better.

Nursery moms - since the children have a little trouble separating from mommy, we plan to have you drop off your child in the nursery and then head to our music room where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and meet the other nursery moms.

Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night for FCC MDO - more details to come but plan on dining out that night at Chick-Fil-A and help us raise money for the playground!  Date is set for October 6th!

We still have plenty of Kroger cards!  Send in $5 to get a $5 Kroger gift card.  Use the card whenever you shop at Kroger and a portion of the sale will go to our playground fund!  THANK YOU to those who have purchased for themselves AND relatives!  I called Kroger and yes, they absolutely can be used out of state and proceeds do come to us.  If you have any questions about how to use them, please don't hesitate to ask.

Reminders

Just a few reminders!

  • Make sure that you put your child's name in the "memo" section of your tuition check.  It helps us match correctly your payment to your child!
  • Scholastic orders end September 26.  If you need the code it can be found on the right side of the blog.
  • Kroger cards are here!  Don't forget to send in your $5 to get a $5 gift card.  Use your Kroger card to help us fund our playground.  A big thank you to all who requested one today!
Our chapel lesson for Monday and Tuesday of this week is:
Fruit of the Spirit - Joy - Acts 3:1-11
The children are doing great in chapel and music time!

A couple more dates

I accidentally left off a couple of dates on an earlier post:

September 26 - Last day to order Scholastic for September
October 11 - No MDO - Williamson County Schools out

Kroger Cards

Kroger Cards will be here beginning Monday.  Funds raised will be used for MDO and our playground.  Here's how it works:

Send in $5 cash in your child's folder.  You will receive a Kroger gift card worth $5.  It will be labeled with FCC MDO on it.  When you shop at Kroger, put money on your card first and then do your shopping.  It does not work like a Kroger Cares card where you just show it at check out.  You have to actually put money on it in order for us to get the credit.

If you want to do it at checkout, just ask them to put money on the card before they start ringing up your items.

So essentially, using a Kroger card involves just ONE step more than using your credit/debit card or check.

If we can get excellent participation from parents and each spends just $33 per month at Kroger, we can raise $200 per month for MDO.  Spending $100 per month would obviously almost triple that amount!  So even if you are not a Kroger shopper, if you could commit to buying produce or soft drinks or even dog food each month there, we could meet our goal!

Feel free to ask grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc. to buy and use one of the gift cards also.  We will buy as many as we need!

Thank you for helping us raise funds for the playground!
Don't forget to send in your $5 next week!

We are getting off to a great start this year!  The children are beginning to settle in.  Remember that it takes a little while for twelve children and two teachers to figure each other out!  Some of these little guys are not used to a "group" routine and moving to different rooms and seeing all new kinds of faces.  It only takes them a little while to adjust though.  Those children who were here last year have fallen right in step quickly, and it has been so great to see those eager little faces!

Have a great weekend!

Scholastic

I have added the catalogues to Scholastic for September.  At least Scholastic tells me that I did it successfully...sometimes you aren't sure with them!  I put the cut-off date for 9/26 for orders.  That way we should get books right at the end of September.  Thanks so much for helping us build our library!  If you haven't ordered before, the code that you will need to get set up is on the right side of this blog.

Don't forget Labor Day is Monday - no MDO, but we will see you bright
and early Tuesday morning!  Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
