Canned food drive 

February 3 - 6

In conjunction with our Stone Soup Days next week, we are going to do a food drive to benefit the food pantry at Graceworks here in Franklin.  With the temps so cold these days, I'm sure that some are having trouble putting food on the table when so much of their money is being spent on heating costs.

So we will be collecting canned and boxed food all next week.  Bring your food items to your child's classroom.  There will be a collection box for each set of days.  The classroom that collects the most will earn a pizza party day!

So the next time you are at the grocery store this week, pick up a few items to bring in February 3-6!

DONUTS WITH DAD TOMORROW

Don't forget Donuts with Dad tomorrow at 9:00 AM for Tues/Thurs children.  No car lane, so you can park in the front lot.  Dads and Children, wear your favorite sports jersey!

**If it should actually snow tonight and we start late, we will still have Donuts with Dad!
One hour late - 10:00 AM
Two hours late - 11:00 AM (let's hope we don't have donuts for lunch...)

**If schools should actually be called off, DWD will be rescheduled for Thursday morning.

FCC Saturday Nights

Franklin Christian Church is excited to announce the addition of a third service in 2014.  Beginning this Saturday, January 18, we will have a 5:30 PM worship every week.  

There will be classes available for children Birth - 4th grade.  And you will see some familiar faces when you come in downstairs to sign in your children.

Reminders

Shining Light is out for MLK Day on January 20th.  We will make-up that day for Mon/Wed families on Friday, January 24.


Donuts with Dad on Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday, January 22nd.  Starts at 9:00 AM!  You and your child wear your favorite sport jerseys and join us for Krispy Kremes!  There will be no car lane those days so you can park in the front lot.


(Housekeeping reminders:  please pack extra clothes as we are running short on clothing when bathroom accidents occur - especially underwear!  Also, please make sure your child brings a coat.  If the weather is pretty, we want to be able to go outside.  We will not take the children out if they are not dressed appropriately!)

Two Things

Two items of note:

1.  FCC will be holding a seminar on Saturday, February 8th from 10:00 - 11:30 AM entitled "Internet Safety and Teen Issues".  It will be led by the Franklin Police Department Special Victims Unit.  Even though you may have very young children now, it is never too early to learn about being safe in this technology-savvy world.  It is a free seminar, but we encourage you to e-mail us at children@fcctn.org to RSVP, so that we are adequately prepared.  You can also e-mail us if you have additional questions.

2.  Two items will be found in your child's folder this Monday and Tuesday.  The first is a tax statement for 2013 that you may need for filing taxes.  The second is a registration sheet for Fall 2014.  If you think that you are interested in joining us again this fall, please fill this out and enclose a check for $120 made payable to FCC.  Your check will NOT be deposited until March 1st.  Early pre-registration helps guarantee your preferred choice of days.  Open registration to the community will begin February 1st.  If you are interested in our Summer Program, please go online to find information and a registration form - www.franklinchristianchurch.com - click on the Shining Light tab.  Our Summer Program will be available on Tuesdays/Thursdays and will run for eight weeks.

2014 Changes

I just wanted to make you aware of a few changes at Shining Light for 2014.  

We have been blessed with growth at FCC and with that has come a need for more ministry workers in our children's area.

So FCC has added two new positions this year, and I have accepted one of them.

I will now be the Children's Administrator for Franklin Christian Church.  I will oversee both Shining Light and Children's Ministry.  Betsy Turnage has accepted the Preschool Coordinator position for FCC and Lynne Davis will become the newly created Shining Light Coordinator.   FCC will also have Gail Bivins as Elementary Coordinator and Amanda Minor as Children's Administrative Assistant.

All this really means for you is that Lynne Davis is now in charge of day-to-day operations at Shining Light.  She will be the one answering most of the e-mails and conducting tours for prospective families.  She will continue to do what she has been doing seeing to the needs of the classrooms, teachers, and children.

Betsy Turnage will still be handling financial matters for SL for a period of time.  There will be a gradual transition as Lynne learns more of the financial side and can assume some of those responsibilities.
