Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Upcoming Events

Upcoming events at MDO:

1/21 - 2/11 - Help for Haiti - there is a message to our story tomorrow "Stone Soup" - it is that alone we can only do a little but together we can do great things. With that in mind we are going to start a coin/spare change drive in each class to raise money for the children of Haiti. We will continue the coin drive until February 11.

1/26 - Scholastic orders due for January

2/4 - We will have a special guest that day coming to talk to the children about dental health to go along with our "Community Helpers" unit.

2/11 - Get your child's 50's clothes ready as we do our first Valentine Sock Hop! Ms. Maria and I are planning it now, and we hope to have the M.O.M. group help out too. Details soon!

Illness and Car Lane

We got hit hard yesterday with a stomach bug among our teachers (and believe that several children had it too including my own). FCC MDO is blessed, however, with some wonderful substitutes who jumped in and handled things so well. Even Ms. Maria, our music teacher, was ill! In addition Ms. Tonya and I had lost a dear friend suddenly and had a funeral to attend. So yesterday was just a little stressful, and we do apologize for canceling car lane at the last minute. In order for car lane to run smoothly and efficiently, it takes everyone being there and prompt especially when we have some parents bringing their children in also.

So for future reference - if you do NOT see the orange cones in the parking lot, you know that for some reason beyond our control, we cannot do car lane that day.

Please say a prayer for MDO this weekend that everyone will return next Tuesday healthy and well. We have several moms who are expecting, and some who have lost loved ones recently, so I would greatly appreciate you asking God to bless us and be with us.

Thank you - have a great weekend!

MDO E-mail

Okay, spent a long weekend in Las Vegas with 65 degree SUNNY weather, and I was not prepared for Franklin to still be freezing cold when I got home!

I have mentioned that FCC is revamping the website. With all the changes somehow the MDO e-mail address got forwarded to my personal e-mail instead. My personal e-mail has driven me nuts lately with all kinds of junk mail to the point that I quit looking at it much.

Imagine my surprise when I found e-mails on there recently inquiring about MDO! So, until further notice, use mdofcc@yahoo.com for any e-mails that you may want to send to me.

Tuition is due Thursday for February. Our Stone Soup day has been moved to January 21st because of our snow day. I hope to have it all planned out by this Thursday.

We will start a unit soon on "Community Helpers" with an emphasis on the medical field. If you know of a doctor, nurse, veterinarian, or dentist that spends time teaching children about their field, please let me know. We would like to schedule a visit by one of these professionals if we can.

FCC Website

There are quite a few changes going on at Franklin Christian Church these days. One of these is our website which is undergoing a complete overhaul. Right now it does not show that there is a Mother's Day Out program. If you have friends who are interested in our program for Fall 2010, I do have the current information that I can e-mail to them. We hope that the website will be up and running soon, but I don't have a timetable.

So please let others know that Franklin Christian DOES have a Mother's Day Out program, and we will be registering new students in February! Thanks!

No MDO Thursday January 7

Williamson County Schools are closed Thursday, January 7th.
FCC MDO will also be closed.

Food Allergies

Just a quick reminder that we do have several children with different food allergies at MDO. You can help us by letting the teachers know a week or at least two days ahead of time what treat you are planning to bring for the class (i.e. birthday, special event), so that our parents whose children have food allergies or the teachers can prepare a different snack for the ones with the allergy. We have some who are allergic to not only nuts but also eggs, milk and wheat.

We appreciate your help with this!
