Wednesday and Thursday we will have a visit from the Fire Department! It should be a fun day for the children. Mr. Smithson plans to wear his uniform and gear, so please prepare your children in case it might seem a little intimidating to them.
April's tuition for May is past due after Thursday (25th). Please add $15 late payment if paying after the 25th. For the majority of you, this will be your last payment for the year.
Some explanation about end of year - the last day for Tues/Thurs will be May 16th. When Wms. Co. moved up the end date, it moved all classroom parties and end of year events to the 21st. When figuring the calendar last year I had left the 23rd as a day for my teachers to attend their children's class parties, etc. They rarely get to attend events during the year, so this is a way to give back to them. Unfortunately, Wms. Co. kind of messed me up! I also realize that the Mon/Wed program sometimes gets short-changed with Monday holidays, so I wanted to give them the 20th as their last day. It is sometimes hard as a director to make everyone happy :)
I checked our Kroger balance and we are just $30 shy of a payout! Please, please, please go Krogering this weekend! (and use your Shining Light card!)
We would like to also make a push for one last big Scholastic book order. Think about those long, hot summer months when sitting in an air-conditioned room reading a good book with your child would be just the ticket...make sure you have some good books on hand!
The purpose of Shining Light is to connect children and their families to Jesus Christ through the nurturing of their spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth.
Daily Scripture
In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Urgent Announcement: No Car Lane 4/17 & 4/18
Dear Parents,
You should receive an email or message from your child's teachers regarding this, but we wanted to update the blog, too.
Wednesday and Thursday of this week we will not be able to have car lane. Because of the potential for bad weather, FCC needs to put up a tent for our Yard Give-Away this coming Saturday. The plan is to put up the tent and take donations during the week. The tent will be located in our parking lot :(
Our teachers will be parking across the creek, and you may need to park there also. I haven't seen the tent yet, and exactly where it's going to be, so just use good judgement when pulling in!
Next week we should all be back to normal!
Thanks so much,
Shining Light CPC

FYI
Well, in the 17 years that I have lived in Williamson County, I have never heard of them doing this, but the school system has stockpiled days and are voting Monday night to determine whether they will end the school year two days earlier than planned (21st rather than 23rd). I will let you know how this affects our end of year as soon as the vote is final.
This week is Safety Week at school. We have a guest speaker from the Sheriff's Department coming in on Wednesday and Thursday to talk to the children. We will be discussing what to do if you get separated from mom and dad someplace, and stranger safety. Of course, we will do this in an age-appropriate manner! The children are also watching a kid-friendly video on Stranger Safety. This would be a good week to open up a discussion with your child about staying safe. Ask your teachers if you would like more details on what we discussed.

This 'N That
- PDO Ruling is official! Governor Haslam signed the bill on April 1st. We are officially back in business for both sets of days. Currently, we are full for Tues/Thurs, but we do have quite a few openings for Mon/Wed, so if you have friends who may be interested in placement for Fall 2013, please be sure and send them our way!
- We are also registering for the summer program. We seem to be one of the few programs in the area offering one, so if you are interested in Tues/Thurs care this summer, please e-mail Lynne Davis at ShiningLightSummer@franklinchristianchurch.com.
- Franklin Christian Church is sponsoring a "Garage Give-Away" for April 20. If you would like to donate some items, we would be happy to take them. Small item drop-off is available April 15 - 18 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Furniture and appliances may be dropped off on April 19 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Please only donate items that are in good physical shape.
- If you have been with us since the beginning of the school year (August) then April 15th is your LAST tuition payment for the year! If you joined us late, or have been late with payments, check with Kely Fouraker to see if the 4/15 payment is your last one due. You can e-mail her at mdorecords@franklinchristianchurch.com.

Upcoming
I hope everyone had a good Spring Break! It wasn't quite spring weather (we drove through a mini blizzard in Virginia!), but hopefully, we will now have some warm and sunny days to play outside this month.
We have scheduled several activities this month, some guest speakers as well as a unit on safety with a fire and tornado drill. We also have Will Smith with SpoiledRottenPhotography coming back to photograph the children next week (April 8-11). These are called Campus Candids and flyers will come home Monday and Tuesday. The scheduled date for your child's picture is located on the bottom left hand side of the flyer. Please check your child's folder and read the flyer for all the details! If you do not receive a flyer with a scheduled date, please contact me. For those of you who have been absent, your teachers will be contacting you by e-mail.
Coming up in May: Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-9). Our Spring Program will be May 15 or 16 depending upon your program days. We will have a musical program as well as Pre-K graduation with cap and gown. Pre-K families, please make sure you read e-mails and check folders for details as we begin to plan for graduation!
**Blogspot has decided to be uncooperative this evening. I have tried to update the calendar but am unable to. So you will notice a difference in dates for Spring Program. This post has the correct dates.
