Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

PayPal

PayPal is up and running now, and you will notice it on the right hand side of the blog.  Feel free to use PayPal although keep in mind that there is a usage fee.  Tuition is due on the 15th of each month, and a reminder that we are paying one month ahead.  You can use a PayPal account or a debit/credit card.  And as always, you may pay with a check to Franklin Christian Church and send it in your child's folder.  There will be a $15 late fee for any payments received after the 25th.

Thanks so much!

PROOFS

Picture proofs came home Wednesday and Thursday.  All the information for ordering is in the packet.  We need orders and proofs returned by Wednesday, November 16 and Thursday, November 17.  If you decide not to order, we still need the proofs returned.

If you have any questions about ordering or the proofs themselves, Andrea Davis has her contact information in the packet.

A percentage of the profits from picture orders goes to our MDO Playground Fund!  Andrea will have pictures back before Christmas and in plenty of time to use them for Christmas cards if you would like!

Thanks for your support!

This and That

I had the privilege of teaching chapel on Tuesday of this week for Ms. Kellie.  I have to tell you that I was so impressed with the behavior of the children and amazed at what they are learning.  Ms. Maria and Ms. Kellie are just doing an awesome job with the children.  PLEASE ask your children to tell you the Fruit of the Spirit!  They can do it - motions too!  And Toddler 1 parents - those little guys are wonderful during their chapel time!  They are sharp too!

Fire Safety Day went well.  The toddler classes did not go through the Fire Safety House but Mr. Ronnie did come to their room and they practiced what to do in case of a fire - stop, drop and roll.  He also told them never to hide from the fireman if he came to their house, but that they were there to help!  The Preschool and Pre-K classes did go through the house and some even went down the safety ladder.  Such brave children, and we all cheered as they climbed down into Mr. Ronnie's arms!  I will post a couple of pictures on the blog soon.  We also conducted a real fire drill and MDO was completely out of the building and safe in two minutes.  We think that we impressed Mr. Ronnie!

Our next Fire Safety Day will be Tuesday, November 15th.

We will be sending home info about our Christmas Project beginning tomorrow.  Our goal is to help three ways:  the world, our community and MDO.  We are asking each family to contribute $10 ($5 will go to World Vision to purchase a farm animal - $5 will go to The Well in Spring Hill to purchase Christmas toys for those less fortunate in our community) and then we are asking each child to purchase a $5 book (wrapped) to exchange with one of his/her classmates at our Christmas party on December 14 or 15.

Make plans now to attend our Christmas Musical Program.  Ms. Maria has a special music event planned; Ms. Kassie will showcase the children's Spanish skills, and I promise to have a great slideshow/video clips of activities that we've done this fall.  Mon/Wed program will be Wednesday, December 14 and Tues/Thurs will be December 15.  The program will begin around 9:30 and last approximately 45 minutes.  The children will then have their Christmas parties downstairs afterwards.  Your child's class will send home specific details about their planned party.

Thank you parents for raising such sweet and wonderful children!

Fire Safety Day

Just a reminder to sign your child's Fire Safety House form that came in the folder last week.  Some Tues/Thurs may be receiving theirs tomorrow (Tues), so look for it then.

We have done the Fire Safety House program with Mr. Ronnie for three years.  The children learn so much about fire safety and safety in general in a very non-threatening and non-scary way.  Mr. Ronnie is great with the children and has experience doing this with school groups throughout the county.

The only concern should be if your child is asthmatic.  They should probably not participate in the Fire Safety House but will still participate in the classroom when Mr. Ronnie comes to do his presentation.

The plan will be for one teacher to escort the children through the house while the other teacher remains with those who do not need to go through it.  If all children are able to participate then both teachers will go through the house.

For those of you who are hesitant about the day - my own daughter did it for three years, and she would talk about it excitedly for weeks afterwards.  The first year she was not too sure about the house but went through it holding her teacher's hand.  By year three she was climbing all through it and telling Mr. Ronnie what to do and say next!

We take lots of pictures which you will see at the Christmas program!  It is definitely one of our more exciting and enjoyable days at FCC MDO!

FYI

FYI:

PLEASE make sure that you check folders each day!  Not only does your child do beautiful art work and/or academic work, there are also forms, etc. in there sometimes.  I have heard that there are some parents - oops - who have never checked the folder????

Fire Safety forms are in there for Toddler 1 through Pre-K.  You must sign form before your child can participate in the Fire Safety House.

Fire Safety Days - Wednesday, Nov. 9th and Tuesday, November 15th.

One Scholastic order came in so some of you received books yesterday.  There are two more orders coming  that should be here by beginning of next week.

I need to correct dates for Christmas Program -
Wednesday, December 14
Thursday, December 15
Both programs will begin around 9:30 and last approximately 45 minutes.
Nursery will be videotaped beforehand.  More info on that later.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

UPDATES

A few updates on things around FCC MDO!

  • Scholastic date for November AND December is November 16th.  The children do a $5 book exchange for Christmas (Dec. 13, 14), so make plans to order books this month!  It will be a double bonus; you will have a Christmas present purchased, and we will earn free books!
  • PayPal is almost ready - will let you know when the final step is completed.  PayPal will be completely optional but for those of you who tend to forget tuition checks, you may want to check it out.
  • We are $700 away from getting our first Kroger Cares check!  Buy your Thanksgiving goodies there and we will meet our goal!
  • We still have Chick-Fil-A calendars for sale ($6) and Kroger cards ($5) if you haven't purchased one.
  • We are still waiting on a final amount from our Chick-Fil-A fundraiser...
  • IMPORTANT!  Fire Safety Day is Wednesday, November 9th and Tuesday, November 15th.  Mr. Ronnie will be here with his Fire Safety House; a permission slip is going home this week for all those in Toddler 1 through Pre-K.  The Fire Safety House involves non-toxic smoke to simulate a fire situation, so those with asthma will want to probably not participate.  Also, Mr. Ronnie will set the real fire alarm that day for a fire drill.  It's quite a fun day though and about 98% of the children want to be a firefighter when they leave that day!
  • Next week we will be sending out information about our Christmas project this year called Gimme Five.  It will be a way to give back in three ways - to the world, our own community and within MDO.

So Sorry!

At 8:08 this morning (Tuesday) I discovered that voting was going to take place at FCC.  When I arrived there were already cars parked here, there and everywhere with people sitting around with signs.  Considering the back up that occurs when doing car lane, and the number of people who would be trying to go around, park, cross over the bridge, etc., it would have been difficult to do car lane safely.

Living out in the county as I do, I don't stay on top of city voting schedules, so I do apologize.  I will definitely be more attuned to that and have requested voting dates so I can notify you all in a timely manner.

And again, if you do not see the orange cones in the parking lot, please realize that circumstances out of our control prohibited us from doing car lane.  We try not to have it happen often; however, there are times when due to illness of teachers or other unexpected occurrences we just cannot do car lane efficiently.

Thanks for understanding!
