We have two events to share with you 

for the month of October!

Join us for our first ever Trunk or Treat/Chili Cook-off at FCC on Sunday evening, October 26th

For even more fun, decorate a car and join us as we play games and give away candy to FCC, Shining Light and community little ones!  Click here for more details and/or to register a car.  

We hope you will join us!

Shining Light has partnered with FCC to host a Food Pantry on Saturday, November 1st.  Our school will be unique in that we are asking for donations of FRESH FOOD.  Because of this, we will have to be very specific about when you bring your donations to Shining Light.

We will collect fresh items on only two days:

Wednesday, October 29

Thursday, October 30

OR

You may bring your items before 8:00 AM on 

Saturday, November 1st.

Fresh Items that we hope to collect:  all kinds of potatoes, onions, carrots, peppers, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, beans, apples, or oranges.

Shining Light will have a special table set up at the Food Pantry that day.  We are excited to be able to offer this to families in our community who need some help.  If you would like to volunteer that day, we would love to have you.  Just e-mail me and let me know that you would like to help serve.

Car Lane will begin on Wednesday, October 1st. We will be sending home the car lane map on Monday and Tuesday. Please check your child's folders so that you will understand the flow.  We encourage all parents to use car lane it truly is an easier transition for your child. If you are not using car lane we need you to use the parking lot off of 96 to take your child in. 

Kroger Plus Cards

Help support Shining Light with Kroger Community Rewards!

Kroger has recently changed the way that organizations can raise funds through their Kroger Community Rewards program. In the past, you had to "load" a Kroger gift card with money, and then use that to make purchases with. They have simplified the process, by allowing customers to earn money for an organization by simply using their Kroger Plus Cards each time they shop.

Here's how you can enroll your Kroger Plus Card in the program, and designate Shining Light as the recipient:

1. Visit www.kroger.com/communityrewards

2. Scroll down to find you location and click "Enroll Now"

3. Sign in to your online account, or create an account (you must have an online Kroger account on their website to enroll your Kroger Plus Card).

4. Find and select FCC/Shining Light under "Organization". Search for "Shining Light" or enter our organization number "62179"

5. Click "Save"

If you don't currently have a Kroger Plus Card, you can apply for one right there on the site. Just click "Get a Digital Plus Card online today"where it says "Add Card".

You'll start earning rewards for our organization right away on qualifying purchases made using your Kroger Plus Card!

Scholastic Books

We have new scholastic catalogs out on the front desk. We place orders on the 15th and 30th of each month. Remember the school receives bonus points for all of the orders placed and we can buy different items for our classrooms. The scholastic code for our school is GPTH7. 

Muffins with Moms

Just a reminder that Muffins with Moms will be this Wednesday the 17th  and Thursday the 18th. This will be a fun time to talk with teachers, other moms, and visit your child's classroom. We will begin at 9:00 am!

Bridge Construction

• Franklin Christian will be beginning construction on a new bridge that connect the larger parking lot to the small one adjacent to the entrance to the preschool. 
• We have been told that this construction will begin on Monday. 
• During construction, you will only be able to access and exit the small parking lot via Hwy 96.  In the mornings, this can be difficult.  If you choose to park in the larger parking lot, you can use the pedestrian bridge to enter the building.  It is a further walk, but probably the safest option.
• Car lane begins the first week of October.  All parents are encouraged to take advantage of this service.  The traffic flow is outlined on the flyer in your child's folder.
• If you have any questions, please feel free to discuss this with the teachers.

Muffins with Moms

Come join us on Wednesday September 17th and Thursday September 18th at 9:00 am. This will give you a chance to mingle with other moms and enjoy muffins with your child. If you are not able to attend with your child please feel free to send someone else. Due to the adjustment period in the walker class they will not be doing muffins with mom. Hope to see you there!

News you need to know!

Thank you so much for attending the Meet the Teacher/Parent Meeting this week.  We hope you are better informed now than you were before you came in!  

Next week we begin full days all week - 9:00 - 2:00 pm. Please remember that you must have your child's medical and permission to pick up form completed before you leave your child for the day.  And don't forget to pack a lunch!

Once again, we would like to invite you to worship with us any weekend here at Franklin Christian Church.  Our service times are:

Saturdays @ 5:30 pm
Sundays @ 9:00 and 10:30 am

We have programs for children at all three services!

Meet the Teacher/Parent Meeting

Good Morning!

Just a quick reminder of our dates and times for Meet the Teacher/Parent Meeting next week:

• Mon/Wed children and parents will meet on Wednesday, August 20th.  Tues/Thurs children and parents will meet on Thursday, August 21st. Parents, please bring your child to his/her classroom (lists will be posted on the door).  Your child will stay with his/her teachers for one hour while you attend the Parent Meeting in our chapel room.
• If you have a child in Walkers, Toddler 1 or Toddler 2, you will meet from 9:15 - 10:15 am.
• If you have a child in Preschool or Pre-K, you will meet from 10:30 - 11:30.
• If you have two or more children, and you are NEW to Shining Light, please attend the session for your youngest child.
• If you have two or more children, and you are a RETURNING SL family, please attend the session for your oldest child.
• If you have not filled out Fall 2014 forms yet, please go online - click here - and fill out forms before you come to make things smoother and quicker for you! Please note - the form is two pages.

Opportunity

Franklin Christian Church has a Wednesday Women's Bible Study that meets during the school year.

They are currently in need of a floater for their nursery and preschool classes.  It would require three hours on a Wednesday morning.
