- PDO Ruling is official! Governor Haslam signed the bill on April 1st. We are officially back in business for both sets of days. Currently, we are full for Tues/Thurs, but we do have quite a few openings for Mon/Wed, so if you have friends who may be interested in placement for Fall 2013, please be sure and send them our way!
- We are also registering for the summer program. We seem to be one of the few programs in the area offering one, so if you are interested in Tues/Thurs care this summer, please e-mail Lynne Davis at ShiningLightSummer@franklinchristianchurch.com.
- Franklin Christian Church is sponsoring a "Garage Give-Away" for April 20. If you would like to donate some items, we would be happy to take them. Small item drop-off is available April 15 - 18 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Furniture and appliances may be dropped off on April 19 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Please only donate items that are in good physical shape.
- If you have been with us since the beginning of the school year (August) then April 15th is your LAST tuition payment for the year! If you joined us late, or have been late with payments, check with Kely Fouraker to see if the 4/15 payment is your last one due. You can e-mail her at mdorecords@franklinchristianchurch.com.
The purpose of Shining Light is to connect children and their families to Jesus Christ through the nurturing of their spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth.
Daily Scripture
In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Upcoming
I hope everyone had a good Spring Break! It wasn't quite spring weather (we drove through a mini blizzard in Virginia!), but hopefully, we will now have some warm and sunny days to play outside this month.
We have scheduled several activities this month, some guest speakers as well as a unit on safety with a fire and tornado drill. We also have Will Smith with SpoiledRottenPhotography coming back to photograph the children next week (April 8-11). These are called Campus Candids and flyers will come home Monday and Tuesday. The scheduled date for your child's picture is located on the bottom left hand side of the flyer. Please check your child's folder and read the flyer for all the details! If you do not receive a flyer with a scheduled date, please contact me. For those of you who have been absent, your teachers will be contacting you by e-mail.
Coming up in May: Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-9). Our Spring Program will be May 15 or 16 depending upon your program days. We will have a musical program as well as Pre-K graduation with cap and gown. Pre-K families, please make sure you read e-mails and check folders for details as we begin to plan for graduation!
**Blogspot has decided to be uncooperative this evening. I have tried to update the calendar but am unable to. So you will notice a difference in dates for Spring Program. This post has the correct dates.

A few reminders:
Easter Egg Hunt is next Wednesday (20th) and Thursday (21st). Please be sure and read your teachers' e-mail this weekend for details about those days and what you need to bring.
Please don't forget to pack jackets on these cool, sunny days. We like to get some fresh air when we can!
One little nag....moms, please tell the dads to use the pedestrian bridge when bringing children in and not to cross over the car lane bridge while there is oncoming traffic. We would greatly appreciate their cooperation in this! It is for their (and your) children's safety that we ask.
We are now registering for our Tues/Thurs summer program. You can find all the details on the church website www.franklinchristianchurch.com. Just click on the Shining Light tab on the opening page. If you have questions, please e-mail Lynne Davis at ShiningLightsummer@franklinchristianchurch.com.
Tuition is now due for April.

FALL 2013
The PDO ruling is all but signed. The house voted yes with a couple of stipulations. I expect the senate to follow suit soon.
I am now going to move those of you who originally requested Mon/Wed over to those days. This may free up some spots for those who are on Tues/Thurs waiting list. If you have already received one confirmation later, I will probably simply e-mail you about any changes that I make.
I will also now begin to deposit Mon/Wed checks, so please be aware of that. Our checks are always deposited with our Sunday offering, so checks usually clear (at least at my house) on the Tuesday after.
On that note, if you ever have any questions about money matters at Shining Light, please be sure and e-mail Kely Fouraker at mdorecords@franklinchristianchurch.com. This will save you time as I usually do not know the status of each check or deposit. Kely works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so those are good days to contact her.
Thank you to those of you who have sent families our way for this coming fall! We still have openings on Mon/Wed, so please pass our name along if you know of someone who is interested. We do tours of the program on Thursday mornings, and they can contact me at shininglight@franklinchristianchurch.com to set up a time. If they are interested in our summer program, they can contact us at ShiningLightsummer@franklinchristianchurch.com.

Summer Program
For those of you who have been interested in our summer program this year, the information can now be found on the church website: www.franklinchristianchurch.com. You will find detailed information about the program, dates, and fees. There are some discounts available if you opt for the eight week program. There is also a registration form available for download that we would encourage you to submit as soon as possible. We only have room for 48 children due to the number of teachers available to work this summer. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at ShiningLightsummer@franklinchristianchurch.com.

Alerting Parents
Yes, Sunday night caught me completely off-guard as I was at an Oscar watching party when one of my teachers texted me about Williamson Co. closing schools. I was completely baffled; had no computer with me, and had to rely on information from various sources. Needless to say I missed much of the party! While we can debate all day whether Wms. Co. made the correct decision, I can only say that since the suspect was caught in the general area of town where the church is located, that I would not have wanted to have him still out there when we began on Monday morning.
A couple of weeks ago, I began a text group app for me to contact all 25 teachers quickly if needed. The eventual plan was to have each classroom add parents to a group text, so if I texted the teachers, they would forward the information on to you.
Little did we realize that procrastination can get you in trouble! I'm sure some of you have already received an e-mail from your child's teachers asking you to help them set their group texts up.
Please help us communicate with you quickly and easily! In order for this app to work, you must text the number that the teacher sends you. The teacher cannot simply add your cell phone number. It does not work that way; you have to initiate it.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this closing caused. I have mentioned before that we follow Wms. Co. schools due to the number of teachers' children that we have. Most of our teachers have children in the school system and are able to teach while their children are at school.
