- Tuition is due now. You may use PayPal over the Fall Break if you haven't paid. It can be found on the right side of the blog.
- Fall Break - no school Monday and Tuesday, October 22 and 23
- Scholastic orders are due Thursday, October 18 - we are only doing online orders this year - www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. School code is GPTH7
- Don't forget to get your Kroger gift card! $5 gets you a $5 Kroger gift card tied to Shining Light. Continue to add $$ to the card when you use it, so that we receive a percentage.
- You should have received an e-mail link to your pictures from SpoiledRottenPhotography. There was also a hard copy sent home in your child's folder. If you have not received information about your child's photographs, please e-mail me at shininglight@franklinchristianchurch.com.
The purpose of Shining Light is to connect children and their families to Jesus Christ through the nurturing of their spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth.
Daily Scripture
In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

FYI Again
We sent about four more suspected cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth home yesterday. Once again, it is a virus and often not very bad at all. Children will run a low-grade fever and develop blisters on hands, feet, and mouth. It is very contagious. However, they are most contagious before the blisters ever break out. It lasts about five days. The serious part of it is if the blisters get inside the mouth. That can be very uncomfortable. If you want more information, visit the site below.

We disinfected like crazy yesterday, and hopefully, with the little break today and this weekend, we will all be healthy by Monday! Make sure you wash your child's hands frequently!
Just a little reminder that November tuition is due on Monday and Tuesday next week. I don't know about you, but this fall seems to be flying by!
I got the chance to escort the children back and forth to have their pictures made this week. I think you will be very pleased with the outcome. There were some adorable pictures taken, and we can tell the children who are pros at the picture-taking game; they were too, too funny! We had a great time watching them. We appreciate SpoiledRottenPhotography. They were wonderful as we worked them non-stop!

FYI
I wanted to let you know that there is a suspected case of Hand, Foot, and Mouth in the Nursery class. It seems to be going around in general right now as I've received information about it from my daughter's elementary school also.

Pumpkin Patch
One of our former Shining Light families, the Cooks, have a foundation called Cooper Trooper which helps families dealing with childhood cancer. They not only help raise money for cancer research, but they also make sibling packs for those children who sometimes get lost in the chaos when a brother or sister is diagnosed with cancer. Shining Light was part of that journey with them when Cooper was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. We are so happy that he is now a healthy rambunctious little boy!
Each year the Cooks have done the Cooper Trooper Foundation Pumpkin Patch. You've seen it; it's located in front of the Walgreens on Mallory Station Road - across from Jack in the Box and Lowes.
The Pumpkin Patch is staffed completely by volunteers, and they are in desperate need of some help over the next few weeks. Most of their available times are during the day when Shining Light teachers are working. However, if any of you could spare a couple of hours one day, would you please consider giving of your time? Perhaps several of you from one class could volunteer a few hours to not only help a great cause but get to know each other a little better also.
The link to volunteer is: http://tiny.cc/PumpkinPatchVolunteer2012 - Missy and Rod Cook are our dear friends in need of volunteers. Colby and Cooper are Shining Light alumni. They along with brother Carson would greatly appreciate any help that you can give!
If you have any questions about the organization or how you can help, please e-mail me at shininglight@franklinchristianchurch.com.

Reminders
It's not too late to sign up for SpoiledRottenPhotography if you haven't already. Simply go to www.spoiledrottenphotography.com and register. We will do photographs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this next week.
We received 24 free books from Scholastic this past month and $45 worth of coupons to use in October! We are going to place two orders this month (one next week), so that we can receive a free election kit. The last day to order for October is the 18th. Just go to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs and check it out. Our school code is GPTH7.
We will send out information about Kroger cards this next week. Using a loaded Kroger gift card that is linked to Shining Light helps us off-set some expenses of the activities that we do throughout the year.
Don't forget that Shining Light will be out Thursday, October 11th. Williamson County is out for Parent/Teacher conferences.
And we will see who reads all the way to the end...PRESCHOOL PARENTS - next week, we want you to send your children in underwear (and clothes). In other words, we are going PULL-UP free! You will want to pack a couple of extra changes of clothing, but we are pulling the "crutches" away and getting everybody potty-trained. TODDLER 2 - we are going to begin Potty Bootcamp. From what I've heard, most of them are ready. We already have some in Toddler 1 using the potty, so we are going to make a concentrated effort to get Toddler 2 on board also. I know this is a little scary to some of you parents, but trust us :)

Portraits and Scholastic
You should have received a note in your child's folder or an e-mail from your child's teacher indicating what day he/she is going to have portrait taken. We will send home information about M/W days tomorrow (Wednesday). We do not have a specific time; however, all will be taken before 11:30 AM on the day scheduled.
I also need to apologize. I neglected to send Scholastic books home on Monday although I had them bagged up and ready to go. They are now in responsible hands (your child's teachers!) and will go home tomorrow!
We are actually going to place two Scholastic orders this month. They are offering a free election kit that I thought would be good for our Pre-K children, so we want to get that delivered in plenty of time before the Presidential election. So we will place one order sometime early next week if we can get $20 worth of orders, and then a later one by the 18th.
And finally, dust off those Kroger cards! We will be sending home information about supporting our program through Kroger gift cards. If you purchased one last year and have used it in the last 90 days, it should be good to go. If you can't remember the last time you used it, try to load money on it at Kroger, and they will tell you if it is still usable. For those of you who have not purchased a card, they will be available for $5 and the card has $5 on it. We receive a percentage of money placed on the gift card and used for shopping at Kroger. Every time we have $5000 worth of groceries purchased, we receive about $220. So it takes the effort of all to make it profitable. The Kroger gift card is also good at any Kroger in the country, so if you have a relative who shops there, they can help us out too! Right now we need about $1400 to get another check, so buy some groceries or gas at Kroger this weekend - using your Shining Light gift card, of course!

Car Lane Reminders
Car Lane Reminders:
1. Please be careful entering off Hwy. 96! Traffic is crazy in the mornings. We have evaluated the best traffic flow for several years, and this is still our best option.
2. Please do not exit the car. We will unbuckle your child for you.
3. Please wait until directed to pull away. We unload three cars at a time before we release each side.
4. Please do not walk or drive across the bridge in front of car lane. There is a pedestrian bridge in front of main entrance.
5. Please do not use your cell phone during car lane.
6. Please do not unbuckle your child unless you are one of three cars in the line.
