Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

UPDATES

Thank you for your patience today as we began car lane. The afternoon is always the most difficult, and we were about five minutes off our target stop time, so we have something to work on!

Your child should have received his/her navy blue Critters t-shirt today. The children may wear them anytime, and we will ask that they wear them for our Christmas and Spring programs. Please e-mail me at mdo@franklinchristianchurch.com if you did not receive one.

We are still in need of volunteers to man a table at the pumpkin patch either October 16 or 23. If you can volunteer an hour, please let your teachers know. We really won't be able to do the bake sale unless we have people to actually sell the items!

If you volunteered to bake treats, we will collect them the Thursday before each of the weekends. The first group on the list will then take the items to set up. I plan to be one of the first ones on the 16th, so I will take items home on Thursday, October 14th.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this beautiful weather! We have a special visitor next week to teach the children about different kinds of lizards and how to care for them. Mr. Wagner (Seth's dad) was a big hit last year, so we look forward to seeing him again!

CAR LANE

Car Lane begins tomorrow. You should have received two parking tags and directions in your child's folder yesterday. If your child was absent yesterday, simply park across the creek tomorrow and come inside to get your tags for the afternoon car lane.

Your car tags have been color-coded (orange - nursery; yellow - toddlers; green-preschool; purple - pre-k; red- two children). This helps us identify the class quickly so that the car lane can run more efficiently. Please place them in the front window of your car. This also helps with security so that the right child goes home with the right parent! So please always have your car tags ready and visible. This helps us out tremendously! Eventually we will "learn" you and your car, and it will become easier, but it takes us a couple of months.

There will be orange cones set out in the morning. Please use the cones as a center lane and pull in on either side of the cones. We will begin unloading cars at 8:50 AM.

Should you decide to bring your child in, park across the creek and walk over the pedestrian bridge. There will be a teacher in each classroom to greet your child.

Please bear with us as we begin this process again! We may be a little rusty tomorrow!

FYI

Thank you so much for the great turn-out last Thursday for Muffins with Mom. I hope you were able to meet a few new people or visit with old friends!

Please sign up for our October fundraiser to benefit MDO and the Cooper Trooper Foundation. Please make plans to visit the pumpkin patch (corner of Cool Springs Boulevard and Mallory Lane) to purchase your pumpkin and help out a wonderful cause. Each classroom has a sign-up sheet, so just ask your teachers.

This Thursday car lane begins. Car tags and instructions will go out Tuesday. The most important thing to remember right now is that beginning Thursday the front parking lot will now be used as a car lane, and you will not be able to park there to bring your child in. You will see orange cones set up that will be used for the two car lanes. You will need to park across the creek to bring your child in if you do not wish to use the car lane.

Toddler and Preschool parents - during this potty-training time, please make sure that you pack one if not two extra outfits for your child!

FUNDRAISER

I love these kinds of fundraisers! We are helping MDO in addition to supporting one of our own MDO families and the community. Perfect combination!

The Cooks have been at MDO for several years now. Colby is in Pre-K and Cooper is in Toddler 1. When Cooper was just a few months old, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. They spent the next year in a very tough battle and during that time realized the toll that the battle takes on the siblings in the family.

That's how the Cooper Trooper Foundation began. This foundation raises money for care packages for families dealing with cancer with an emphasis on sibling "care" during this difficult time. For more detailed information about the foundation, please visit www.coopertrooper.org.

The Cooper Trooper Foundation is hosting a pumpkin patch this year. They will be located on the corner of Mallory Lane and Cool Springs Boulevard in front of the Walgreens. The patch will be open October 10 - 31st. Not only will there be pumpkins and baked goods, but there are plans for children's activities as well.

MDO will host a bake sale two Saturdays (October 16 and 23 from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM). We are asking parents to consider manning the table for an hour or so and to provide baked goods for the sale. Monies raised will go to MDO. We have divided the dates up into two sections (October 16 - Preschool and Pre-K; October 23 - Nursery and Toddlers).

Specific information will be available this Thursday. Please consider helping out both the Cooper Trooper Foundation and FCC Mother's Day Out by participating on one of those two Saturdays! MANY THANKS!
