- There will be no MDO on Monday - MLK day - We will see you on Tuesday!
- Dental Hygiene Day is next Wednesday and Thursday. We have a special guest coming that day to speak to the Preschool and Pre-K classes. We are getting a jumpstart on our Community Helpers unit in February.
- Donuts with Dad is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 25 and 26 for 9:00 AM. Dads will meet in their child's classroom for donuts/goodies and to meet some of the other dads. If your child's father cannot attend, feel free to send a grandfather, uncle or even mom! We take lots of pictures, and the children are always excited to show off their classroom and friends to their family.
- Information about Fall 2012 is going out next week. I know it is way too early; call it MDO peer pressure!
- On another note - we set goals for each class during inservice on the 5th. Toddler classes - welcome to the potty! Toddler 1 will get used to the idea of what a potty is while Toddler 2 is actively working on using it. You can help us at home by encouraging those same things! We need all Preschool children to be using the potty, so if your child is headed for that class next year, heads up!
- Preschool classes will be practicing using a pencil and yes, using scissors. One practice tip - get children's scissors, an old newspaper, and let them cut away. Don't worry about cutting something out specifically. We are working on holding the scissors correctly and actually using them to cut!
- Pre-K children - we want them ready for kindergarten. Skill sets that are needed will be going home soon if they haven't already. Your teachers will be notifying you of the strengths and weaknesses of your child in the areas that are needed for kindergarten. Again, it helps if you can work on these same skills at home.
- And nursery! we didn't leave you out! Nursery children need to be mastering a sippy cup and finger foods. We want them to be able to sit in a small chair by themselves and follow a simple direction (i.e. bring me the ball). Even better if they can bring "the YELLOW ball" showing that they are learning their colors.
Enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week!
