Well, it's that time of the year again when I have to get my college-age children settled in at school. This year we are allowing our middle child to take her car which means a long drive to Phoenix, Arizona! So I will be away from my desk August 12 - 17 as I travel with her out there and get her moved into her first apartment. So considering the drive, heat and moving furniture (never my favorite!) I will probably not be checking e-mail!
Some of you have questions about the Parent Meeting on the 27th. You do not have to sign up for a specific time, but you may choose to attend either time slot. Last year we had parents tell us which time, and it ended up being evenly divided, so we hope for the same scenario this year! The hour time slot will allow your child to become familiar with his/her room and teacher and also allow you a chance to meet with me and go over the Parent Handbook and fill out forms such as "Medical Release", "Permission to Pick-Up", "Photo Release", etc.
I will say this - the 10:00 AM time slot seems to be a popular one, so you might want to avoid the crowds and choose 11:30 AM. I promise that we will be prompt and efficient! There will be people to direct you and your child to your room and the meeting area. The parent meeting will start 15 minutes after the designated time and will last 30 minutes which will allow you an additional 15 minutes to fill out paperwork and see your child's teacher again - oh, and to take your child home with you too!
