Daily Scripture

In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.

Change is coming!

Summer time is always a chance to evaluate our program and make changes where necessary.  We have made such progress over the last four years and year #5 promises to be even better!

With that said, we are in the process of changing our identity some!  Look soon for a new name and new look!  We want to more accurately reflect what we are all about AND coordinate with our own awesome children's ministry here at Franklin Christian Church.

So stay tuned as we transition to our new look!

Ready for Fall?

Some target milestones for fall:

1.  Nursery/Toddler 1 - children need to be ready for one nap per day and actively using sippy cup, not bottle.  They should also be able to feed themselves finger-food.
2.  Preschool - children need to be potty-trained, using underwear or worst case a pull-up.  No diapers allowed in Preschool!  We have no diaper changing facilities in either of those classrooms.  Your child should be actively attempting to use the potty.  We don't expect accident-free, but we don't want them running screaming from the room when the teacher says, "Everyone, it's time to go potty..."
3.  Pre-K - no pull-ups, only underwear!  Children should be comfortable going to the bathroom independently and washing hands afterwards.

So if your child is going into one of these classes, please start preparing now.  As you potty-train, show your child how to wipe, pull up underwear, pants/skirt by themselves and also wash hands.  It is SO tempting to do it all for them as it's quicker, but it helps them so much more if you allow them to attempt it all by themselves.  Remember that there are twelve children in each class, so the more that they can do independently, the more time the class has for fun and learning!

And thus ends the potty lesson for today!
Have a great weekend!

Summer News

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer break!  I have been busy catching up on all things neglected at home over the course of the school year!

If you are a new family for this fall, we want to welcome you.  If you will look to the right of this post, you will see "Follow by e-mail".  If you will enter your e-mail address, this blog will notify you whenever there is a new posting.

I added some dates to the calendar.
August 23 - 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM - stop by to fill out paperwork and pay first month tuition.  Tables will be set up in downstairs foyer.
August 24 - 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - stop by to fill out paperwork and pay first month tuition.  Tables will be set up in downstairs foyer.

You have the option of coming by either day.  Paperwork must be completed before Meet the Teacher day.

August 29 and 30 - Meet the Teacher/Parent Meeting

August 29 - 9:00 - 10:30 - New Mon/Wed families
                        11:00 - 12:00 - Returning MDO families (Mon/Wed program)

August 30 - 9:00 - 10:30 - New Tues/Thurs families
                        11:00 - 12:00 - Returning MDO families (Tues/Thurs program)

It is very important that you come on the correct date for August 29 and 30.  We will have different teachers working the various days this year, and these days are set aside to meet your child's specific teachers.  August 29 is for MON/WED families only; August 30 is for TUES/THURS families only.

If you cannot attend any of the above dates, please notify me at mdo@franklinchristianchurch.com.  These days are used to assess our numbers and available openings for the school year, so we do not want to accidentally remove you from our rolls!

Just a note - I am in and out all summer, so if I delay a little responding to my e-mails, please forgive.  I will get back to you!  Next week is VBS at FCC.  Ms. Maria and I will be teaching the Bible lesson for the elementary grades, so if you have children in elementary school, we will get to be with them each day.  Our theme is Rock Star, and Ms. Maria and I will be decked out in our best rock star gear...oh dear!

Childcare this summer

If you are in need of some childcare this summer, we have four MDO teachers who are interested.  Their information is below, and I will transfer it to the right side of the blog, so it will be available to you all summer.  I can vouch for any of them!

Ms. Nancy (Nancy Sullivan) - Toddler 1 - monamom1nancy66@gmail.com or 752-2000.  Ms. Nancy can work Tues/Wed/Thurs - best hours 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM.

Ms. Ashley (Ashley Hux) - Toddler 2 - huxfamily09@gmail.com or 931-981-0896.

Ms. Molly (Molly Myers) - Toddler 2 - mkmyers1@comcast.net or 830-8715.

Ms. Megan (Megan Myers) - Toddler 1 - megmyers87@yahoo.com or 830-8714.

Program Tuesday and Wednesday

There will be no car lane Tuesday or Wednesday this week as Ms. Maria and I will be upstairs getting everything ready for the program.

Remember to have your child wear his/her navy MDO shirt unless he/she is a Pre-K student.  The Pre-K children need to wear dress clothes.

Please bring your child at the regular time of 9:00 AM so that we can do last minute adjustments and potty trips!  Doors to sanctuary will open at 9:30.  Please notice seat rows that are marked off for the classes and sit behind those rows.  Also, please do not set up video cameras that would block views or obstruct traffic for our little guys.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

Coming to a Close

The children were just about perfect today at the Spring Program and Pre-K practice.  They sang beautifully and followed directions like little angels!  If only the actual production goes this well!

Tomorrow we will practice for the Mon/Wed program, and I feel sure it will go just as smoothly.

Don't forget:  for the program please have your child wear his/her MDO navy t-shirt and jeans or jean skirt.  Pre-K children are to dress up for the program and then will quickly put on their cap and gown before "graduating".  Pre-K parents, bring tissues with you.  They were pretty cute today!  There will be a party for Pre-K children downstairs afterward. Mom and Dad are invited too!

Don't forget Teacher Appreciation is this week.  I've noticed several sweet treats coming in the door!  If you have time, please drop them a note to say that you are grateful for the hard work that they've put in this year.  They spend extra time preparing lessons and crafts and often even their own money making your child's day  a little extra special.

We are winding down this year.  I hope you've enjoyed FCC MDO.  We look forward to seeing you again this coming August, and if you are not returning, we will miss you and wish you all the best.  For those returning, make sure that you are linked into the blog e-mail, so you will receive an e-mail when there is a new post.  Expect info beginning sometime mid-June.

Have a good evening!
